IELTS Question.

Hi Guys, as some of you may know my husband is still attempting the dreaded IELTS, his last two attempts was half a mark off, frustrating!!!

This Saturday is his sixth attempt , he's done all the revising, got all the books, used all the you tube revision he can find and so on.

He's booked Thursday and Friday off work so he can get in as much last minute revising as he can.

My question is, has anyone been sent an email about a revision evening at the university the evening before (I think this one is 4.30 until 8.30 & its £50) has anyone done it and found it beneficial? Do you think it was worth it? he would also need to book a hotel the night before as the test isn't so close to home so would make sense to stay over so were just wondering if its going to be worth it or him spend the Thursday and Friday revising at home!

Any advise would be appreciated

Hi, my partner has been half a mark off too on his writing part, it was his second attempt and both times just half a mark off. We have ordered a book off amazon hopefully this will help him. I was looking into courses and could only find academic courses and not one for general training.

Hi, I feel for you both. I was in the same position last year I needed to obtain 8 or more in all 4 categories. So many times I was half a mark away it is demoralising, very frustrating and mentally exhausting, but your husband has to keep going and don't give up, he will do it. I bought a book from Waterstones called IELTS Advantage Writing Skills (a step-by-step guide to a high IELTS writing score) it's by Richard Brown and Lewis Richards. This helped me massively, so much so I passed at my next test session. My advice is to keep going and never give up. Good luck.

Hi thanks for all the encouragement you have sent, you are right its very demoralising and each time its really knocking his confidence.

He came home yesterday mentally drained, I'm so proud of him because he says he wont give up.

I'm so glad we have Perth Poms and can read others experiences and don't feel like were going it alone.

Just to let people know about the 4 hour IELTS preparation course my husband got sent by Email from Birmingham university.

it was £50 for 4 hours 4.30pm until 8.30pm with no break and he did feel it was beneficial he got tips he hadn't read about and he used the tips on the day and it helped with timings.

Lets hope it was worth it!

Yes we also get the results 27th :) we can keep each other going for the next 13 days hahaha

last test I was convinced he had passed he came home confident.. This time he's convinced he has failed because he missed a couple of questions so I don't know what to think. I was reading KEITHS old post when he was struggling with the IELTS and now he's in Perth saying how the ielts as all worth it in the end - that keeps us going!! xx
