verystormy
Read this today and thought about my fellow mod as we are both keen cooks. I am am always keen to learn more, and if this was all available on a cruise - all of the classes. Boy, I would be keen to do it. What at do you think? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinkadvice/11461366/Wining-and-dining-on-Britannia-the-new-super-cruise-ship.html
portlaunay
I'm unsure as to whether I'd enjoy a cruise. I fear they'd be cultural and creative vacuums, all bling, floating palaces to consumerism. I like the idea of going for the kids as I know there are some that have the most awesome kids clubs and we've heard really good things from friends who've done it. I'm always up for cookery classes though and try to fit at least one in every trip. I've always wanted to try Atul Kochhar's food and a cookery lesson from MPW would be pretty cool even if he has gone from chef to drama queen. And then there's the gin. Did someone say gin? I'd find a comfy seat and wouldn't move. I'd be soused by the time we returned to port! BTW, isn't it about time we went fishing again VS? Fancy fitting one in before you head off? verystormy
I love cruising - I spent a few years selling them, which got me trips on a lot of the ships. Some are very bling and palaces to consumerism. But a good number aren't. I like the look of this one simply because I could have great fun doing a week of classes and of course munching the results. I would love a fishing trip. Though can't afford at the moment and not sure if I have time. I am "supposed" to fly Friday or Saturday, but the agency I am going through haven't even booked flights yet. I am now starting to question if it is going to happen. If it doesn't happen, then I have lots of time, but no money lol. I spoke to them today and and if i get fobbed off tomorrow I am going to call the MD and the company direct (not supposed to do that when a third party contractor - but stuff them). If if it doesn't happen, then how about a alternative - I now have a dream kitchen and you can head here and you can teach me a dish and I teach you a dish of traditional North East food. Maybe we can get one of the members who I know is a pro patiserie chef to come along and teach us both something?
nikkiwd
We love cruising too but forget cooking lessons, I'd be too busy working my way around all those restaurants... and maybe a bar or ten! You would have to roll me off the ship at the end. I'm happy to teach some pattisserie in exchange for a good meal not that you guys need it, sure you can make a mean dessert. Seriously, lets do it, I'd love to do that. I'll bring the wine and teach you a traditional dish of the south east. Er... Jamie's Cor-blimey Luverley Jubberley Toad-in-the-hole followed by Nigella's Wobbly Bits Tart. We're busy this weekend but free next? (21&22). After that it gets difficult because my mum and my aunt are coming to stay. As much as I'd love it I hope it doesn't happen. Got everything crossed that you get some good news tomorrow.
