Lisa VCH
Hi everyone. I'm thinking of starting a pgce specialising in ages 3-7. My concern is that aitsl define an early childhood teacher as some one who is specialising in ages 3-8. Now would they be picky enough to quibble over this? I understand you need 4 years at uni in total. Has anyone had a successful assessment as an early childhood teacher? Thank you :-)

I understand you need 4 years at uni in total. Has anyone had a successful assessment as an early childhood teacher? Thank you :-) This is a few weeks old but I've only just come across it. I've had a positive assessment from AITSL as an Early Childhood teacher and my UK PGCE was in Early Years (3-7) x

Rossmoyne
No worries @Takeme2Oz as I am sure the information will be helpful for others in this situation. Just remember that to teach in Australia, you have to be registered with the Teachers Registration Board in whatever state you want to teach in, that your tertiary education is a minimum of 4 years of university. I have only once heard of an Early Childhood teacher from UK being refused registration in WA and that was quite a few years ago, and was because her undergrad degree did not support the PGCE. Takeme2Oz
Thanks @Rossmoyne, I've applied to the TRBWA and am on week 7 since I paid for my application. I'm a bit worried because my degree does not support my PGCE either!! The TRBWA website says 10 weeks wait but looking on old threads it's usually quicker. Fingers crossed for me x
