missp
My partner, 2 year old daughter and I are looking into moving to Perth in September 2016 and are really excited by the idea and the adventure! The only downside is that parents are making us feel guilty for leaving and them missing out on our daughter growing up, which I appreciate. Has as any body else been in the same situation? elmo
Me and my partner had the opposite happen as everyone is happy for us to move (but then again we don't have kids atm). The way I look at life is you can't put it on hold for anyone else. Its your life and you need to do what's best for you and your family, and after all its a great place for your parents to come holiday . Hoping to head the same time as you as well lol
benj1980
To be honest I'd concentrate on getting all the facts and ensuring you can get the visa. At this early stage I'm sure most parents are quite negative, you have to show them you are serious about the move and get the ball rolling. Parents have time to get their heads round it! jo and scott
we have been very lucky, scotts mum is fine with us going, she has let us all stay at her house for the past 18 months ! my mum is devastated, we have 2 girls aged 9 and 10, they are her only grandchildren, but she's also excited for us. we have sold all of our belongings too. scotts sisters are excited for us too, their dad was Australian and one of his sisters has citizenship. my sister doesn't really say anything about it. this has taken us a very long time, we started this process is june 2013, we didn't have the money to pay for everything straight away and we had a holiday last year which was already booked before we started to even think about Australia, so money had been a problem. police checks sent off last monday, not heard anything yet, and they havnt taken the £90 out of our account yet either. medicals booked for 2nd may :-))) we are nearly there !!!! still hoping to fly out by September. ali
Not really, but my mother in law told us on her last visit that when we left she cried all day and felt like it was the end of the world, they've just had their 3rd visit and tell us everytime that we've done the right thing. domone
I had a bit of it (expected as Im an only child and my dad passed 5 years ago) from my mum. She came out with us when we triggered our visas and nearly every day she would say "I can see why youre doing this" it really opened her eyes and although not happy about it, she certainly understands and accepts why we are giving it a go.
