We have secured our 175 visa, and are hoping to make the move over to Perth in January next year.

I am a chartered accountant and my husband is a production supervisor at a roof truss manufacturing company, as well as a qualified carpenter, however no site experience. We also have a 18month old daughter.

I have been reading various threads and am starting to panic about job availability and the cost of rentals and finding a nursery place for our daughter etc. The suburbs we have been looking at are Butler area or Duncraig area.

Can anyone offer advice as to whats really happening with the job market? Any fellow accountants who have made the move what is a real typical salary offered to a UK qualified accountant with 5 years post qualification experience?

Thanks, any info would be greatly received

Hi there

This may give you a insight into the area,s you are looking at Location Lowdown | Butler WA Australia Real Estate | Butler WA Australia Immigration | Butler WA Australia Relocation . As far as employment goes i dont think you should have too much trouble, the unemployment rate in Australia is around the 5.3% mark which is pretty much the lowest in the western world, 6202.0 - Labour Force, Australia, Feb 2010 .To get an idea of typical salaries check this, Hays Salary Survey. I can understand that you would be feeling a little panicky about the move but lets be honest just about everyone who does make the move feels the same, dont worry youll be okay and this forum will help you with any further questions you should have.

Good luck

Bob

Hi , I live in the northern suburbs of Perth and there is plenty of building going on, so where there is builders, there must be accountants. I think you should be fine, they are anticpating another boom here, your guess is as good as mine to wheather it will happen or not, but If you are keen to work, you should always be able to find it - Just a quick one on the area's - not sure if you know that Duncraig and butler are about 20 mins apart from each other. There are lots of good suburbs in between

Good Luck

You will be fine. If not you can always coffee with the thousands of other, what to appear to be unemployed women, in the Butler area.

How many walk around, do coffee or lunch or shop in Ocean Keys and appear to be doing nothing but wasting away the hours? Maybe all the husbands earn a bomb and they do not need to work. Beats me though.

Now don't shout at me, look at my handle. I just say it as I see it.

All advice / comments come with a gaurantee of authenticity by the way so prove me wrong and happy to withdraw them.

Hi there, I agree with the other reply, look on SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site and set up an automated e mail reply for suitable jobs for you and your hubby.

I'm sure you will be ok, not sure if you have to re-qualify or if your hubby does. I had to re-do my gas qualifications, took in all 5 weeks and was a waste of my time. Plumbing took a week and contractor license 10 months. Now I work on a minesite in regional WA (Laverton) on a lot more than when I was plumbing.

Perth is a lovely place however there is more to WA than Perth. You and your hubby will earn a living but if you head North you might be pleasantly surprised. Try a searc h for 'GORGON', carpenter and also maintenance for your hubby.

Good luck and hope it all goes well for you both.

Al
