Jesus, this is putting me right off and I leave in 2 weeks, furniture all sold

Don't let it put you off. Stuff like this happens the world over. You cannot live your life in fear of what could happen to you. We would live miserable lives if we did that. Be a half full kind of person :)

I went on one of these city price comparison websites last night while in bed, jeez the comments about Perth, I can only assume they are from silly teenagers, but god I did not sleep last night petrified that I wouldn't be able to afford to live in Perth, and we are coming over with enough to buy a house without a mortgage

I think that sort of crime has increased worldwide. Even my little village has had the odd burglary, and my wife still forgets to lock the car and doors at night. She's a nightmare.

Sadly, it is not just these areas seeing spikes in crime at the moment. In Mandurah we are seeing similar things - had a huge amount of armed robberies recently, sometimes several a night. In Perth, the retailers are reporting huge increases in theft.

It is not surprising. The drug problem has been growing and a lot of people have lost jobs. As a manager in the mining game, I can say that there has been a massive issue with employees taking ice in the last few years and now these guys have developed a habit but no longer the salary to pay for it. The writing was on the wall of what would occur

My god, whats going on?... It doesnt frighten me, but opens my eyes that crime is an issue in perth. Suprisingly, something that we dont really get too much of here in Wroclaw..

All in all, I think everywhere you get your good and bad parts of the city. Getting as much info as possible before we make the move in a year!!

I was finally after 10 years here a victim of crime last week. Stupidly I left my purse in my car and possibly even my car unlocked. My own daft fault on this occasion and what a bloody inconvenience it is having to replace everything that was in there which is of no use to anyone else!!

Sorry to hear. I was never going to mention it but I've done work for quite a few people over the last few months and this topic has cropped up either by them saying they are moving because of the crime and they've been affected or by me just generally asking how do you find the area. I've been amazed by how many have had problems, burgled, cars stolen and burnt out, attempted mugging etc or that they want to move away from a corner plot because of the close calls they've had with cars losing control. I was helping someone Thursday and Friday do some work out in Chittering and the owners have even chased somebody off their land who was attempting to break in, they are an English couple who have been out here 13 years and the lady said she think it's got a lot worse.

A man who sold me my kayak in Anaconda said they sell machetes which i didn't know and some guys on different occasions have walked in and taken them and started to walk out the store, the salesman said stop to them but the thief just said why what you gonna do about it, at that point they just let them go as they don't get paid danger money. He also mentioned the police haven't done much about it.

It will be interesting to see what the waste water tests for drugs that is being done will show. When it was carried out in Victoria is showed that one hit of ICE had been used for 1 in every 20 people in Victoria. It is known that WA has a MUCH bigger issue.

The police have recorded a significant increase in crime recently

Surely the drug use in WA coupled with the amount of people using mobiles at the wheel is contributing to all these accidents and deaths on the roads over here.

I agree, though I also blame the lack of police patrols and the actual driving taught and tested. My wife has been learning to drive here and I was shocked at what they are taught is acceptable such as undertaking. But drugs is a huge issue for the roads
