Frogslegs
Hello, My wife, 6 year old son and I are looking to move to Perth, and are part way through the process. I was wondering if anyone can advise what kids clubs are available in the holdiday time ??? my Wife and I will be working, and obviously take some holidays when our Son is on Holiday from school, however we wont have enough to cover the whole period - any help with what is available would be great thank you all in advance Frogslegs
ali
It depends on where you're living and you may find that initially leave periods may have already been allocated (e.g. in my job we have a yearly leave planner when you're asked to submit the majority of your holidays and school holidays always have a lot of competition). My son went to a basket ball camp (did lots of other things there too), a friends children go to a holiday club.
Sideshowdeb
Hi, We are in a similar position but thankfully I have found the selection of childcare available to be quite good so far. The after school club attached to my daughter's school offers full day childcare during the holidays as well as teacher training days and my employer operates a subsidised childcare almost onsite which is run by the YMCA. There are quite a few sports themed activities running as well as art, drama and music clubs. If you keep an eye on the ads in your local paper and the what's on guides they have free at the supermarkets you should be able to find plenty to keep your son occupied during the holidays. In my limited experience here it doesn't seem as though annual leave is quite as generous as in the UK but so far it hasn't been a problem for us, although it can be quite pricey. The most we have paid is almost $80 a day, which over the long summer break adds up quite quickly but the cheapest has been $22 a day, so there is something to suit every budget. We are based in Fremantle but I work with people from all over Perth and I think as long as you aren't too far out you should be OK? The only colleague I know that has trouble finding holiday and after school childcare lives over an hour away from Perth in the hills. I hope that helps and good luck with the rest of your journey
nikkiwd
My kids sometimes go to the YMCA out of school hours care at her school. they do before and after school care and vacation care too which they love as they go on excursions which are included in the price. The daily fee for vacation care there is $60 ish per child but centrelink covers some of the cost.

lozzachino
There are loads of programs here for kids in the holidays. Its commonly called vacation care here. Some are attached to schools, others daycare centres and some are run by local leisure centres. Try find one linked to your childs school as chances are they will see some familiar faces there.
