Plimthing
Hello everyone, been a while since I wrote on here! We have finally made the decision to call it a day in Oz and head home, in the March (ish) of 2016. Its been a bit of a roller coaster ride, and its still going! We have tried, believe me, but decision made, we are heading back! Best Companies for freight back anyone? we got Pickfords coming to us next week for a quote, as we came out with them and couldn't fault them. Also, any new arrivals due in the Feb/March time wishing to purchase a car or 2. Please give me a shout, We have a Ford Focus (2003) and a Ford Fiesta (2005) up for grabs. Fiesta is very low Km's and nice and tidy car. Focus will have 200k Km's on it by the time we go home, its a nice reliable, no frills, get you to work and back type car with the usual dinks and dents associated with driving in Australia. Anyone interested, reply on here or pm me. The main reason for going home is Family, no amount of walks on pristine white beaches or 45 degree summers can trade off with time with family, especially kids and grandparents. Yes Skype is wonderful, but its not quite the same. Work wise, my industry is so tied to the mining sector, and my beloved friends Qantas and is too unpredictable to guarantee or plan any future here. I thought UK aviation was bad, but here is a nightmare lol! I was given some duff info by my employer when I moved companies, so my transition over to PR is going to taker longer than anticipated too. That in itself is annoying as we wanted to leave here with at least PR/Citizenship so the kids had choices when they were older. Some things were just not meant to be. Anyway, im off to fix the flying kangeroos again, and try and keep smiling for a few more months! Oh and Port, want to buy a beetle, its all up and running, I refurbed all the engine and she's lovely! Im not asking perth prices either! Look forward to hearing from everyone again! SJT
Tony You have to do what is best for you and yours. At least you have given it a go. I have to say 2 and half years in and I still struggle and the only reason is friends and family. I do not want to live in the UK and do not miss it in any shape or form but I do miss close family. You take it for granted those friendships you leave behind in the UK and the amount of time you invested in those friends. I really thought I had found some really good friends here but it was all show and I ended up getting very hurt and it has made me back off from other friends I had made on here, even those PP people that are lovely and really friendly. It has just made be very wary of meeting new people, which in turn has left us both feeling very lonely, it is a lose/ lose situation really. We have just had UK friends come over and stay and they went back to today, and it has brought it all home again, the ease we felt around them, the fun and giggles we have had over the last few days has brought up my homesickness again, so at least you know you gave it a try. Good luck for the future and hopefully you can settle down again soon. Sarah
portlaunay
Dude, I'm soooo sorry, I know you've not had the easiest of rides here and it's a real shame it's come to this. I suppose if everything had been great this end it might have made the missing family and friends easier to cope with but you've given it a bloody good crack and fair play to you. Such a shame you can't get the PR sorted before you go, as you say, it's always a good thing to have for the future but as you say, some things are just not meant to be. Always did want to see your bug when it was done and the last thing I need right now is another car but...
Guest Guest6235
Good luck Tony, I know it's been a journey and a half for you and genuinely wish you all the best and nobody can say you never gave it a go. I do hear you on the grandparent thing, my daughter saw my Mum and Dad quite a bit in her first year and we stayed with them for 5 weeks before coming here and although she is still only two, she does remember them. When we get the laptops out to skype she gets excited, then cries when we log off. The thing is they are 76 now so if we did just go back so my daughter can spend time with them, who knows how long it would be for. At least you'll be able to go watch Everton....or is that a bad thing. Sarah, I can relate to you with the friend thing. We find unless you know anybody with roughly the same aged child as your own then it's hard. Most people drift off to socialise with people who have that common ground. I miss my old best mate that i used to play football with, at the moment it's still just the 3 of us doing things, but not to worry. We haven't made our mind up yet on the future. ali
Good Luck Tony and family, sorry to hear that you've not been able to get citizenship to allow you choices for the future. Please don't be a stranger when you get back, we'd love to know how you're doing.

Plimthing
Thanks for messages! Personally, the hardest thing about being over here is being 24/7 with the kids! Now I know that sounds bad, but, we have no one now here in WA to help with our kids, so no quiet nights out with Mrs, no nights out watching footy at pub with mates..you know what I mean? Cant even go to woollies without dragging a 4 or 8 (or both) year old with you. The family/friend support is priceless, and gives everyone a chance to unwind from the stresses of life! Even Wa has those! Don't get me wrong, we love our kids, and do everything for them that we can...but we all need a break before something snaps. As soon as we land in blighty im booking a holiday for me and mrs! Grandparents can enjoy the company of our kids while we chill out! Probably drifting away from the thread a bit now, so i'll leave it there! Anyone else besides MoveCube then?

TheMackemSlayer
I know what you mean Tony bug thankfully we are in the opposite camp. Only one member of family close to us here in the UK but three or four in Perth. Hate not being able to do things with the mrs on our own. verystormy
Hi Tony we have used Anglo Pacific and Grace for long distance / international. Both were excellent, though I don't know prices as it was paid by company. I have heard ears good things about move cube, but it is limited space. Not full house. benj1980
Sorry to see an Evertonian leaving, I seem to be surrounded by Liverpool supporters! I could also be interested in a car, looking for a run around.
Plimthing
For all those who are interested in cars, will post a new thread on for sale thread very soon. Please note, the focus and fiesta wont be available until Feb March next year... I did intend to put photos on today but beach, bbq and beer got in the way....and very soon Football (not soccer). Rossmoyne
A hard decision to make Plimthing, but you can never underestimate the power of family and the pull of missing them. Hopefully you will be taking some wonderful memories with you back to UK, and your time in WA hasn't been all bad.
