Masonella15
We are looking on moving with my family (children aged 6 + 3) to the Burns Beach area as we like the look of the area / houses but I can't seem to find much information on the area itself. Any views / comments on the area or surroundings? Local Schools for the area? Shops, Restaurants etc ? Would really appreciate any feedback from anyone that knows the area or has settled here. verystormy
I would wait until you arrive before you get to hung up on particular areas. They can seem very different when seen in person compared to online. Also, work location will play a big part. Perth is very spread out and it can take significant time to travel, particularly at peak times. As a plumber, this will not be straight forward, as his trade is licensed. This means he will have to undergo licensing which will mean he will need to get someone to hire him as a trade assistant and undergo supervision. He will also need to attend college and I would research this as it may affect your choice of areas. I am guessing you already have your visa? It's a very new suburb and as such doesn't have any shops and restaurants bar a small cafe at the beach. Nearest primary schools are Kinross, Beaumaris and Currambine. I think there is land put aside for a Primary School but as yet it hasn't been built. Shops and restaurants of varying kinds can be found in nearby suburbs of Kinross, Currambine, Ocean Reef with WA's largest shopping centre in Joondalup, approx 5 to 10 mins drive away. Nearest train station is Currambine with trains to the City taking roughly 30 minutes. Entrance to the Mitchell Freeway to drive south can be found 5 minutes away with a rush hour journey to the City taking probably at least 45 minutes. JohnC
I live in Kinross which is the other side of Marmion ave to Burns Beach, which is nice area if a bit underdeveloped, there is a lot of building still going on and the houses are pretty expensive, but it is a nice place and two minutes from the beach. Go to the other side of Marmion ave and the prices drop significantly simply because you are a few hundred yards further from the beach. Kinross and Currumbine are decent areas, good schools, good amenities, shops, good pub/restaurants in Currumbine, sports club, and your right at the end of the freeway which will be extended by next year taking a lot of traffic away from the area, you also have Joondalup 5 minute drive away with Lakeside shopping mall bigger than anything I've seen in the UK, but shopping isn't my thing! Best thing to do is rent in Currumbine or Kinross for a year, have a look around at the other areas, and then decide, most will probably depend on your budget anyway.
