SCOTLAND TO PERTH
Hi everyone, My family and I are looking to move to Perth hopefully by end of 2016. My fiancé and I travelled OZ 14 years ago but Perth was the one place we never got too. However we fell in love with the country and want to move over with our 2 girls. I am so confused with all of the info online and I really don't know where to start. My kids will be aged 5 and 6 at the end of the year and I really need some info regarding schools. Is it the norm for expat kids to attend private school or not and if so what are the fees really like for the schools. Second question. My fiancé has worked in in the oil industry for 4 years as HSEQ. What is the industry like out there at the moment. Has it taken a downturn like it has here. What is the likelihood of finding work. Thank you soo much if anyone can help me my head is bamboozaled trying to figure it all out. Hope you are enjoying the weather we have lots of snow here in the north of Scotland. Hope to hear from anyone. Thanks Claire:laugh:
verystormy
Hi and welcome. First, school cost vary on visa. If you have a permanent visa, then you can send the kids anywhere and public schools are "free" or private. If you have a temporary visa, you can send them where ever you want, but if you send them to a public / state school, the government will charge you $4,000 per year. Yes, the oil industry is being impacted by the low oil price just as much as the UK. The big issue is if you are eligible for a visa. This is what you need to check first as the rest is academic until you know you can get visas. The starting point is the government website border.gov.au You need to check if one of you has an occupation on one of the two skills lists called SOL and CSOL. Then you need to check what is required to pass the skills assessment for that occupation. Then you need to calculate points. Then, if the occupation is only on the CSOL, it requires some form of sponsorship. The better being state, so you would need to check if any states are sponsoring it and what conditions are imposed. It it may be a good idea to speak to a good registered migration agent. They will do an initial assessment for free to see if you are likely to qualify. SCOTLAND TO PERTH
Hello and thank you for your advice. I t is great to hear advice from people who are out there and know how it all works. I was just wondering if you could possibly advise on a reputable company who can deal with our queries. It is so daunting to know where to begin. I really do not want to be ripped off as I know many companies exist. Thank you again for your time. Kind Regards Claire Hello and th Hi and welcome.
