Hi and thanks for the help.

We we are considering a longer distance based on the fact my work hours is a bit different to average - early start and early finish which means I will hopefully miss the majority of traffic.

We we are open to all types of rental. Houses or flats though we would like at least two bedrooms.

We have a short term rental booked for two weeks on arrival and family are meeting me at the airport.

i arrrive next Sunday and start work Tuesday which is a bit hectic, but it at least means I will then have car and my wife and dog arrive Friday.

Stormy just remember to keep the updates coming thick and fast when you get back to Blighty.... still can't get my head around you going back but totally understand why. And as I said at the meet-up on Sunday, at least you both have citizenship now and can come back anytime.... Hope the move and house sale goes as well as possible. Rossy x

Thanks Rossy.

I will keep people updated. The temp accomodation has wifi and I will have my laptop.

The he update so far is nearly all the furniture is sold - everything except our bed and a outdoor dining set.

Flights are all booked and we have one box left to pack for the move cube.

Organised much! Impressed! Hope woofer copes with the flight OK..... x

Thanks Rossy. We think he will be fine. He is with Emirates and the long leg is a night flight that will land just before he would normally get up anyway. He then has a long stop over in Dubai, but he will be in a private run at their animal centre where he can stretch his legs and get some food. We are very particular about what he eats, so they have agreed we can fasten some food to his crate to give him.

By the time he takes off again it will be almost his normal bed time and we think he will just sleep. Then on landing at Heathrow he has a 4 hour wait at The ARC - their animal reception centre. He will be checked by the vet and given another meal.

He he is travelling in a little crate that has enough room to move around and has a water dispenser. We will be putting one of June's jumpers in there with him so he can get comfy and smell June. Luckily for us, he is used to being in confined spaces as he often travels in a bag when we go on public transport or even to restaurants. He knows, when he goes in his bag, it is time to sleep.

Then, we will pick him up!!!

we will of course still be fretting parents and I am even using my platinum status with Emirates to arrange the temperature on the flight to be increased. They normally keep the animal hold at 18. But that's a bit too cool for him, so arranging it to be increased to 21.

  • 2 weeks later...

Work is going well and the team are great and my boss is wonderful.

Today is a big day as my wife arrives this morning and the little fury one tonight. Dogtainers who arranged his flight have been wonderful. My wife dropped him there yesterday morning and they looked after him until he bordered his flight. My wife had been worried that he would be stuck in his crate all day before going to the airport. But no, they looked after him really well and just after he boarded, I go the following email:

Hi Christ just spoke with June to let her know that Mickey is safely handed over to Emirates and effectively on his way.

He has been a delight and has been in the office with me all day and travelled to the airport in the cabin with me so as to be out of the crate until the last minute.

He has been for a few walks and just before he left I put his little brown jumper on.

Following are some photos of him sitting on my desk helping me with my typing...

Either that or he was on my lap or on a doggie bed on the floor sleeping.

Thank you for using Dogtainers and do please confirm safe arrival once back in the UK,

Cheers,

He is now in Dubai and will get his next flight in a couple of hours and arrive this evening. Looking forward to picking him up about 9pm.

My wife is in the air somewhere over eastern Europe and will land about 11am. Family will meet her and take her to their house in Richmond. I will finish work and go there and we will all have dinner together then go and pick up the little one.

Over the weekend we are viewing houses. So, fingers crossed we find somewhere.
