Shaz
Hi everyone, I would really appreciate your help. I am not sure what is the current law regarding claiming UK pension while living in Australia. Well, I was a housewife raising a family but my late husband was working. Someone told me that I can claim it from here after the age of 65, but I am not sure if it is correct and if it is how to go about it? I mean what are the steps I need to take to start the process. Thanks
Rossmoyne
Hi Shaz. Check out this link about UK Pensions https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad/how-to-claim Whether you can claim will depend on a lot of variables, but you can contact them and ask for an analysis of your records and if you qualify, they will tell you how to apply. Please note that if you do qualify, and you also qualify for a Centrelink Pension, you will have to apply for the UK pension before you can apply for the Centrelink pension. Centrelink take any UK pension or income into account when assessing if you are entitled to an Australian aged pension.

I am still working part time and have not claimed anything from Centrelink and possibly wont either, at least not in the near future. will checkout the link. Thanks again:)
