boab
Has anybody had a Crimsafe safety door fitted and how much does it cost. Is it just like a normal fly wire door in front of your main front door. Could anybody recommend an approved installer or can you fit it yourself as I am very handy on the building side of things. Thanks

Thanks Crimsafe is a trade name, there are other similar products that are cheaper. You are supposed to be accredited to fit crimsafe but the accreditation is done by crimsafe so it's just a marketing ploy in my opinion. As you have to be accredited I'm not sure you be able to buy it to fit yourself. As I say there are other products that do a similar job for less dollar, Google is your friend
Rossmoyne
When I replaced my security screen door about 2 years ago, I had quotes for a Crimsafe door and quotes from other suppliers for a "clone" type product. Quotes varied hugely as did quality. I eventually chose a company that used Amplimesh IntrudaGuard, as I felt the quality of the product was equal to Crimsafe, but without the price tag. I replaced a front door screen and a large sliding patio screen and the total bill was around $2,000. I am very happy with the product and certainly feel safer with the improved security. mintpro
Crimsafe are expensive cause they've gone down the route to get certified and hence have the price tag for it. If you were building apartments ect and crimsafe were specified you can't get an alternate product because none have gone down the route to prove they meet the requirements. They are worth it for my two cents. Ps I don't work for them but I'm in the building industry.

Crimsafe is a national brand, and to be that they have to pay so much money to register their product. I get that, but there are as good products out there that do not have to pay huge dollars to register their brand and I chose one of those and am very happy with it. Ktee
Lol and I thought they were just to keep flies out, just shows we are sheltered in FNQ
Rossmoyne
Lol and I thought they were just to keep flies out, just shows we are sheltered in FNQ They used to be Ktee and I wish they were only needed for that now..... but unfortunately petty crime is on the rise in WA... probably commensurate with the rise of drug use. I live alone now and improved home security was what my kids gave me when they moved out... right down to monitored security and cameras..... gotta love my kids worrying about their Mumma! Rossmoyne
Snap me too I actually think it is very sad at the way crime has increased in Perth in the past few years, but I don't think Perth is unique in this as it seems to be universal. I can only think it is commensurate with the increase of illegal drug usage, the loss of respect for people and belongings that many of the younger community members have, and it makes me wonder where it is all going to end. Townsville is the same at the moment, but I think we have the highest unemployment rate in Australia, places closing down all the time, crime rate going up (although when I say going up we hardly ever lock our doors since we moved to FNQ. And most theft is from cars left open.)
Ktee
@Rossmoyne do you know what Perths crime rate is? I would still think it a lot lower than Sydney or Melbourne
Rossmoyne
No idea @Ktee I try to keep away from all that statistics stuff. I just know that where I live is OK, but surrounding suburbs have had a few issues.
