Guest darrens1
In layman's terms, can somebody please explain the process of renting an unfurnished house on a short term rental (say 6 months). Also what the process is when the 6 months is up. ??? We have heard all sorts of stories !!
Guest chimera
Hi darrens1 There seem to be 2 ways the agents work. 1. You might be very lucky and get an agent who is willing to show you around a number of properties on one day, just you and your family. You can then choose which one you like and begin the process. more likely is the second way agents work.... 2. You will search through the papers until you find a house that seems right for you, right place, price and size. You would then ring the agent and tell them that you are interested. They will send you an application form and tell you when the viewing of the house is. Then on the viewing day you, and countless other people will trapse through the house and you then decide if you like it or not and give them your completed application form. If they like the look of your form and someone hasn't got in first you then get the house. You will need a deposit, usually a months rent, and you will also have to pay a month in advance. If you have pets you will need a deposit for them too (just in case they damage the property). The bond should be held with a third party agency which you will get back when you leave - providing no damage is done. You will probably have a house inspection after 3 monthe to ensure you are not trashing the place, then again after another 6 months, etc. etc. When you leave you will have to have all the carpets professionally cleaned (the landlord will want to see a receipt), fumigated for fleas if you have a pet, and obviously make sure the house is cleaned and gardens left neat and tidy. Good Luck

The other thing I've been told by agents is that you or a friend have to see the property - if it's a non holiday let. So you can't just apply for somewhere from the UK without somebody seeing it on your behalf. Hope that helps. We've managed to secure furnished holiday rental for 4 weeks which hopefully will give us time to find unfurnished for 6 months.
Lee The Mortgage MAn
Chimera is spot on, you might find it a bit hard to rent a place from uk, best to look at short term holiday reantal or B&B until you have decided on an area anyway, I know a good B&B NOR and a couple of very good rental companies if you decide that you want to live up North of perth
Guest denjdav
Have you got a firm date for moving to Perth - I have a fully furnished 3 bed house with LARGE maintained swimming pool for rent from the end of August in Warwick. 3 minute walk to the train station then a 10-15 minute train ride into the city - Also only 10 drive to the beach.
