DazzaC
Hi All, I guess this is a standard post for a newbie...but I really am starting at Square 1 here, so apologies. My family and I are contemplating a move to Perth. I am 46, my wife is 43. I've heard that being over 45 can go against you, but from what I can see the only negative is the fact that you get fewer points, so it would make our submission harder. I have been told that I can make my wife the primary applicant as she is younger, so I don't think it would be a major issue. my question is...being so new (as in we literally only decided to make the move last week) where on earth do I start??? thanks, guys. ali
Hi and welcome. The first thing is to see if either of your professions are on the skilled lists and what you need to do in order to pass the skills assessment.
Collie
Yep, you need to figure out if you are eligible to qualify for a visa. Do some research on the immigration website. If it is not straightforward, it may be worth a visit to a migration agent.
benj1980
If your wife is going to be the main applicant her skills will need to be on the list.

verystormy
The starting point is border.gov.au as the official site for immigration. It can be a bit confusing, but we are here to help. If if you can us her occupation, qualifications / length of experience, we may be able to help. There are two skills lists and depending on which an occupation is on means a different route.
