Tonight I am trialling a recipe of lamb ribs cooked with garlic, rosemary and olive oil - served with cheesy cauli mash and steamed green beans.

Trying to eat out the fridge, freezer and pantry for a while..... so watch this space for some "interesting" forthcoming meals.!!

Sounds Yummy x

Tonight was a Shepard's pie.... made with lamb  mince and onions, mixed herbs and beef stock.... slow cooked and thickened with BISTO (cos I could!)..... topping was mashed cauli and brocolli, with melted butter and cheese.   Then it was put in the oven to settle and brown off.   About to go eat and it smells pretty good.   Cooked so much I have a few meals to freeze for later.

Bacon and tomato quiche .. been making it for years and a family favourite .... it's out of an old 1970's cookbook.  Served with beetroot and pumpkin salad and a green salad, baked potatoes finished off in the oven.

And Ali you need to post the recipe here because that sounds so very very good!!!!

Being 1070's the ingredients are very basic, I'm just looking at the book now, and there's an introduction with a very young looking Mary Berry.

Basically, it's the pastry,

I use for a family size quiche dish, 6 eggs, chopped bacon, I use a tin of good quality chopped tomatoes, a handful of cheese, 2 teaspoons of mustard (I usually use Dijon), and a tin of light evaporated milk.

Mix it all together, pour over pastry and cook at 200 for about 30 mins

I made lunch for friends today.... chicken portions on the bone with chorizo, quartered red onions, garli cloves, pumpkin, olives, small tomatoes, all jammed tightly into a baking dish and drizzled with olive oil, topped with salt and pepper and fresh chopped oregano.   Served with steamed kale and green beans...... went down a treat!

Had Sunday lunch. Roast free range herb fed chicken from a Cumbria small holding. Braised rainbow chard, fresh broad beans, roast potatoes in duck fat and home made sage and onion stuffing. Had a snooze while watching the Dam Busters and now looking forward to apple and bramble crumble. A pretty perfect Sunday :)

Sounds yum, especially the snooze part!

I've just made pizza dough for home made multi topping pizza with home made garlic bread, salad and new potatoes cooked in olive oil, herbs, garlic, salt and pepper.

Slightly off topic as not really for dinner .... but I tested a new soup for Christmas ... Cauliflower, pear and blue cheese .. delicious !!   I split the soup before adding cheese to one half (kids don't like blue cheese), they were equally impressed with the soup and that's one part of the Christmas dinner menu sorted.
