LB1978
Planning to emigrate next year from Scotland and we're about to buy a tumble dryer due to imminent arrival of second child (and reduced space to dry indoors). Pondering whether to buy something cheap and cheerful or a bit more flashy but this depends on whether we'd bring it with us or not. Collie
Stick clothes outside and they dry fairly quickly in Perth (37 today). Don't bring white goods at all IMO. Only bring things that are of high value or sentimental value. Bring as little as possible.
ali
We brought our tumble dryer and use it every year in winter when it's too wet to dry clothes outside. We were the opposite of Collie, bringing everything including washing machine - we're glad we did, we couldn't have kitted out our new home for the cost of the container - plus despite bringing everything we still found we had things to buy. we have probably now just (after 10 years) replaced the last of our electrical items. elfie
If your using a container bring everything and the kitchen sink. As,Ali stated will save you in the long run. For the girst few weeks you spend hand over fist. I just wish we fetched more. Oh yes a tumble comes in handy
verystormy
Yes, people use the a lot in winter, you wont need them in summer, but in winter you will and there are no radiators.
Arwen
I dry all underwear and towels in mine. Can't stand crusty towels from being on the line and life is way too short to peg out socks and pants!!
gazza18
bring everything you can is my opinion if you can fetch the dryer as you will use it in winter my other half is always complaining about getting the clothes dry, no probs in summer but they don't dry very quick in winter
Jen78
We brought ours and will use it in the winter. When it rains it can take 2 days to dry outside and that's undercover. Better for towels, underwear and bedding. Bring as much as you can, its expensive enough setting up out here without having to replace items you already have. LB1978
Thanks everyone. You've convinced me to get the more expensive heat pump tumble dryer and bring it with us! Definitely planning to bring as much as we can in our container and stock up on things that are considerably more expensive in Oz. No doubt I'll be posting for hints and tips of what to stock up on from the UK closer to the time!
