Hi, my daughter has just chosen her yr10 electives. She is not on any specialist courses so has 3 electives which run throughout the whole year. Languages are not compulsory in yr 10, they are an elective if you want to carry on. Presume this is the same for all high schools.

Hi Nila,

My daughter goes to Willetton SHS, about 20 mins south of Perth. In yr 10 they have 8 subjects in total including the 3 electives. These are: English, Maths, Science, Humanities and social sciences, Health and physical education plus the 3 electives. Health and PE is 3 hrs a week, each elective is 2 hrs a week and the rest are 4 hrs.

If you have a school in mind, have a look at the curriculum handbooks on the website, this will tell you the details for that school.

Hth,

Jen x

Dear Jen

Thank you soo much for your valuable information

Yes... I am aware that there are eight learning areas in the Western Australian Curriculum.

Which  is mandated that students from Pre-primary to Year 10 are taught English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Health and Physical Education.

Kindly advice me that what are the other 3 subjects for year 10,as students begin to make choices about studies for Years 11 and 12 in year 10.

How to select these electives? what are the subjects your daughter has chosen?

We are seeking an admission in Rossmoyne SHS and Willetton SHS.I went through both school websites and but  I still have some doubts about these electives.

Kind Regards

Nilangi.

I have attached the electives sheet for yr 10 at Willetton. My daughter has chosen drama, media production and psychology. She can choose different electives for yrs 11 and 12 but it makes sense to stick with what you've done previously as long as you're still enjoying it of course!

When we came over I rang the school to ask about enrolling, and they said to pop in with required docs etc. They gave us the electives sheet for her to fill in. The next day we had a meeting with a deputy head to explain about everything to do with the school, and was shown through to get her timetable sorted which was done there and then. Luckily she got all her first choices and didnt have to do any of her 'reserve' choices.

Hi, I’m well thanks, how are you?

Yes, still at WSHS, eldest is in yr 10 and youngest now in yr 7 and having her first NAPLAN soon.

I’ve had a quick look online and have found the following link https://www.subjectcoach.com/blog/past-years-naplan-test-papers-with-answers/

If you google naplan past papers, you will find more.

The stationery shops such as officeworks will have practice paper books as well to help to prepare, you will be able to look for these online too.

Hope this helps.

Jen
