Rossmoyne
Being a gardener, I love the Perth Garden Show each year, and when I was there yesterday (it runs Thursday to Sunday this weekend at McCallum Park in South Perth), I thought I would post about it on Perth Poms, as gardening in WA is so very different to gardening in UK and the northern hemisphere. If you want to attend and have Kleenheat Gas, you can buy discounted tickets from their website. There were stalls exhibiting everything from shoes to wear gardening to Metal garden sculptures, and everything in between you can think of from veggies, native plants to roses. Some brilliant exhibition gardens, and talks about gardening, food, growing food, starting a garden from a blank new builders sand block.... so many stalls giving out good advice and having competitions to win their products. Fingers crossed I win the huge bag of Lupin Mulch!! It was a brilliant day out... lots of sitting areas in shade and under trees... lots of food trucks... lots of portaloos. I have been to the Show for the last 5 years and thoroughly enjoy it and just wish it had been going when I first emigrated here in 1991 so I wouldn't have had to learn by disaster and default, how to garden in our harsh climate in what is basically sand, or clay if you are in the Hills. If you are looking for something to do this weekend, perhaps give it a visit.
