Guest patience
Just a word of warning about ANZ. We opened an account with them depositing huge amount of money as they were offering a 50kg luggage allowance with Emirates with no restrictions. Wrong you are not allowed a stop off en route. They don't tell u this until you have opened the account. We have had nothing but problems with them, getting a debit card, cheque book, internet banking, setting up DD for our rent etc. They are bloody crap, so now I'm looking for another bank, can anyone recommend a good one. Yeah I know all banks are crap! One of the few frustrations I'm having. I've had enuff and want to go home. I feel a rant comming on. Guest stevieb
Hi patience, never used anz so can't comment, I'm sure they must have lots of happy customers being one of the 'big 4', I guess anyone can have a bad experience with any company, none are perfect. Personally, we use nab, they just seemed better equipped / geared up with regards requirements for us as soon to be migrants. All good so far, since arrival. Guest Freojonny
I have used westpac, commonwealth, NAB since being here. I am currently with the Bank of Queensland who are excellent... They operate just like the banks used to in the 70s in England, personal service, efficient, no waiting for ages to do business. Subiaco branch is best by far but have had good experience at the other branches aswell. Cheers Jon
Rivera
I had the misfortune of refinancing with Homeloansharks. I took out the mortgage at 2.45% above base but they pocketed the RBA rate reductions and ratcheted my rate to 5.6% above base. I am currently being charged 10.25%, yes 10.25%. Do not be taken in by the feelgood adverts. These people are sinister but hide this with a veneer of friendliness and respectability. Avoid Homeloansharks at all cost. Here is my blog http://feelingfrenzied.webs.com/thecause.htm Borrower beware !

One thing that you learn very quickly is that there is not the same degree of integrity, honesty or consumer protection you may have expected in the UK. There is also a serious lack of competition, hence the banks and loan companies charging excessively above base rates. Definitely a case of Caveat Emptor!!!
