Guest Tigger69
Hi Lynette and Mark Congratulations to you both, how long before you start your big adventure. Just a little question, how long has it taken for the whole process, we have just sent our application off. Many thanks Nicci
Guest Lynette & Mark
Hi Nicci Cheers 4 that. We can't quite start the adventure yet as we've still got out house to sell but that is just newly onto the market this week. It's taken us 23 months altogether but when we applied SS were taking 6 months to be granted then we had the elections in australia in between this also and then they had the dreaded wait of the SMP's to be released, if we hadn't had any of this then i do believe it would have been a lot quicker. As for now if your applying i do honestly believe that people are getting their visas granted a lot quicker. I hope this is of help, good luck with ur application. Take care Lynette X
Guest Tigger69
Thanks for the reply, hope the house sells quickly then. That did take a while for it to all go through, but really worth the wait. Do you have a place in mind that you are planning to go to? Good luck with the house Nicci
Guest Lynette & Mark
Thanks fingers crossed it does too. I've got my heart set on Secret Harbour as I've researched it to death ha ha but I'm going to be so disappointed if i go over and it's not what I've made it out to be in my head, arghhhhhh it'll be back to the drawing board. Guest Tigger69
I have read that it is supposed to be fab there, I hope its all what you hope it will be, I'm sure it will be. Have you ever been to Oz before or are you going out blind like me and hubby are planning. As we have never been there before, its really hard on knowing what area would be best place to start at. Guest Lynette & Mark
Ha ha ha thank god there's other people like us, we too will b going out blind as u call it as we've never been either. The Panel Doctor that did our Medicals said he's being doing Medicals for Australian visas for years and that we're the ONLY family he's ever come across that have NEVER even been not even for a holiday. Ha ha ha it better be all it's cracked up to be or I'll be asking DIAC for my money back ha ha ha. Lynette X
Guest Tigger69
Hi Lynette LOL. Thank god I have at least found another that is doing the same, how many people have given you the look of "That's great, but are you bloody mad". I haven't even been on a plane, if you are going to do, do it in style.lol Friends moved to Canberra a year and a half ago, they had never been there either, they say that its the best thing they have ever done but wished they had done it sooner. Life is what you make it, we know that its not going to be easy starting again but I sure it will be worth it. Regards Nicci
Guest Lynette & Mark
Hey Nicci Never been on a plane before??? and the 1st time your going to be going on one is for a long haul flight???? ha ha ha, I have been on a plane many times but just for short haul flights (think the longest would have been 4 and a bit hours), Not sure how i'll get on on a long haul flight ha ha. But my hubby has told me that I'll be able to take the laptop on with me and i can get caught up on all my films and series that i have on it ha ha, so think I'll leave my Dexter Season 5 and Underbelly Season 3 til then and then I'll be landing in Perth before I know myself . Guest Tigger69
Top option I think, save all films etc for the flight. What's the worst that can happen getting on a plane, I could have a complete meltdown or I could dose myself up with sleeping tablets and sleep through it all (tee-hee). Friends went with Emirates, said they were fantastic. Have you had any viewers on the house yet? we have started looking around our house and trying to decide what we want to keep is really tough. Personally I would rather ditch the lot and start again, but that isn't going to happen. Regards Nicci
Guest Lynette & Mark
No viewers on the house as yet, but i keep being told it's not even been on the market for a week yet so i have to keep telling myself that . Yeah I've looked at Emirates for flights and Qantas too so i think it'll b one of the 2. My hubby keeps banging on about flying direct to Schipol then out from there but you can add on an extra £300 to £400 PP onto your flight for that pathway so bugger that it'll be Aberdeen to London then out from there, just got to actually sit down and decide what times etc, but that could be a while off yet, just all depends on the house selling etc. But it'll be scary when it does. We're taking the majority of our stuff with us as we feel we might not have the spare cash when we get out there to completely furnish a house from scratch and if we're taking a container then we may as well fill it with as much as possible . Guest Hayley
OMG!! Congratulations thats fab news!!!! Its so refreshing to hear that someone has accually got their visa!! Not long now then. U will absolutely love secret harbour we went for a month in october, we stayed in mindarie up north which is where we plan on living but we visited secret harbour a few times & its lovely, saying that everywhere in Perth is lovely, I was crying the day after we came back cos I was so depressed & thats really not like me at all. I cant wait to get over there now. Hopefully its right what ur saying & that the 176's arnt taking to long. It sounds awful but we really dont want to have to spend another christmas here as we thought last christmas would be our last so its a bit soul destroying if we are still here! Good luck with the house. Hope it doesnt take too long. Take Care & dont forget to let us all know when u book ur flights Hayley xx
