Guest sparticus
Hi mate, sorry I am still in the UK so not much help. I had a chat with my friend in Perth for you, they reckon it's a nice area and their friends have a child that goes to Treetops which is suppose to be a good school. Not sure if this is right though so hopefully someone who lives in Perth can help you better.

newjez
Is that Darlington in the hills near Glen Forest? Lovely to ride a bike around, (although it is hilly by definition) I've never lived in the hills, but I used to train there (cycling) and it is beautiful. My parents wanted to live there, but they went to West Swan instead. It's a nice lifestyle if you like that sort of thing. Most people from UK go for the beech lifestyle, which is why Perth sprawls up and down the coast. But the beech can be overrated. It all depends on what you want
StraighttothePoint
Jambos, what does that mean? Not a Jambo by chance are we? Anyway Darlington = hills = very, very hot at times with no chance of a sea breeze. If you have a family be careful about venturing too far inland. I would say keep in striking distance of the coast regardless if you like the beach or not.
newjez
I guess bush fires are a recent reminder too. Something else to worry about. The hills aren't always hotter though. It can get very cold in the mornings when you have some elevation.
newjez
Question for Bob Tonnor - how do you get the link to your website to appear in your post?
