Hi, For furnished, you're going to have to look at holiday style accommodation. There's quite a few on stayz. For 4 people in June, prices start at around $670 per week upwards, which isn't bad when you compare to prices of basic cabins on caravan/cabin parks. Have at look @ http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/wa/perth/rockingham?checkin=17/06/2011&numNights=7&numGuests=4

Rocko gets a lot of neagativity, but I think that dates back a few years. It is a real up and coming place and good for families. There is a big cross section of society.

We like it anyway, and spend a lot of our leisure time there.

I have spoken a lot about Rockingham... The furnished accomomdation is very hard to come by in the area in the summer, heaps of people line up to check out any property. Your best bet is to get a copy of the local paper, community news, or Sound Telegraph and ring the companies or email them and ask for any property on their books that are not advertised as often...

You may have to go further afield to find somewhere suitable. There are also

caravan parks which have rentals , some also have small cottage type chalets you might find for a short spell to be helpful. Cee & Sea, Palm Beach and Rockingham motor village (not sure of its name its on Dixon Road)

Rockingham Hospital is in the suburb of Locality of Woodbridge (the name thedevelopers called it when it was first planned) Adjacent to this suburb is Cooloongup, which has a primary school with kindergarten or early childhood centres attached, East Waikiki the same... But you should check out my posts or threads. Just click on my name and you will find some of the 4 or 5 pages of information I have shared with the members of this site...

for your information..:jiggy:

Hi Annmarie,

There is nothing wrong with Rockingham. It’s got a new shopping centre, and the foreshore is great for young children with plenty of parks and shallow water off the lovely sandy beach.

As for houses in Rockingham, some areas are quite old and tired looking,

But there are also some very nice new areas with new or fairly new houses.

These are at Harrington waters, and Shoalwater. Harrington waters is ideally situated for the train link into Perth

Or if you don’t mind a short 15 minutes drive Secret Harbour is also very nice. Which is where we live.

Can’t help you with the schools, as my kids are past school age.

As people here have already mentioned, if you want a furnished place your probably going to have to look at holiday lets.

But when we arrived here three years ago, we went for an unfurnished rental. We just had to ruff it on camping chairs, and just bought a couple of mattresses and essential items until our furniture arrived 5 weeks later from the UK.

Hi, We are also moving to Rockingham in July and both of us will be working at the hospital. We also have 2 children aged 4 and 2 years.

Maybe see you there! (sorry not a helpful post)

I live in Rockingham, and have done for 4 years. It does get some bad press, but hey let them bag us, it keeps people out!! So we get all the beautiful beaches to ourselves. No seriously, Rockingham has so much to offer the young family, lots of open space, good transport into Perth, award winning beaches, a marine park, 30 mins to Mandurah, 30 mins to Freo. I could go on, but those who come here will know just how good it is.

As for rentals, yes the market is tight, but you do tend to get more for your buck down here.

Tracey
