Guest plant78
Hi all, just after some advise please. My family and i are moving to Perth in a few months, we will be renting a property but not sure what area to look into. Idealy we would love to be by the beach but i need access to the city where i will be working. My daughter will be 8 months old by the time we arrive so close to play areas would be good too. My wife will not be working straight away so access to shops, cafes etc etc would be great. We have been looking around the innaloo, doubleview area but not sure what there both like. Any advise would be great. Lee

Guest leeanddanielle
Hi Lee, My fiance and I are moving over in June and decided on "Butler" . It is a lovely area (we stayed there a few years ago with some friends) and is close to joondalup and around 30 mins from the city on the train. It is really close to the beach and the harbours aswell. we have a 9 month old son so seems we have some things in common (my fiance is also called Lee) I will not be working right away but Lee will so if you do decide to move around that area myself and your partner could meet up for play dates etc!!! good luck with your move!! moirclan
the local beaches to clarkson would be mindrie marina or quinns beach 10/15 mins north it would be yanchep and 15/20 mins towards the city it would be burns beach , oceanreef , or mullaloo beach
newjez
You might want to try www.nearmap.com to check out these areas. It's like google earth but a bit more detailed. I've been using it in conjunction with the reiwa site to look for houses.

Clarkson looks better for rental properties than most areas on realestate.com. We have friends in Padbury, would like to get to know people in Clarkson. Guest NeilEB
To diverge slightly (hope you don't mind), are there any places new immigrants should be looking at definitely avoiding living in?

newjez
Why is that then forgot slums Mindarie , Iluka, Jindalee , Brighton and them buggers on Clarecastle rough as fork Don't forget the Burns Beach Bogon's wouldn't want to meet them in a dark alley! (Joking by the way - I love Burn's Beach - and we always make a point of visiting the cafe when we're in Perth)

ali
I think it's important to mention just how vast and spead out Perth Metro is, so that living 'near' to somewhere isn't quite the same as in the UK where you could hop on a bus for example. Guest batfinktasha
Hi I live in Innaloo, great location as near shops, cafes Scarborough beach, floreat beach, and train station, not far from anything really, 15 train ride to central Perth also. House prices quite expensive here though as well as rentals, back yards seem to be a premium, we are currently looking to rent out our rental as we are moving south down the coast to Mandurah, get a bit more for your money there. I couldnt fault the area at all though as lots to do and see and right on your door step. Good luck. Tx
