Guest Jeri
Hiya We are moving to Perth Aus, at the end of this year. My hubby and two children are NZ citizens and will have a SCV on arrival. Are they entitled to Aus medicare or do they have to ensure they are covered privately? Secondly.. I know I will not be covered as I am going on a sub 461 and when I apply for my visa I have to show adequate private health care. Can anyone recommend a good company and any tips, suggestions.. or price range I should be looking for, and can I start this now from the UK? Thank you. x
Admin
Hi A New Zealand citizen who supplies documentation to show that they have entered Australia to live may be enrolled in Medicare. Have a look at the attached pdf. 1856-19-medicare-enrolment-new-zealand-citizens-residing-in-australia.pdf
Guest scottishkiwi
Hi there, we are going to perth from NZ in June. My husband and youngest daughter were born in NZ but myself and older daughter have recently become NZ citizens (otherwise i would have been going on a 461 visa). Only you will need to organise health insurance as a condition of your visa. You will also need to re apply after 5 years which I was told was not a problem. Good Luck with the move
Guest Jeri
Hiya Thanks for that, very interesting to know. So basically I should ensure I have health care, and my hubby and children once arrived (we will have bank accounts, lease agreements, employment letter) they can then try apply showing they are there to live? Can you recommend any private Aus health care practises that are recognised, which i may start from the UK? Many many thanks again. Its fabulous when someone responds. xx
Guest Jeri
Hi ScottishKiwi A big hello and thanks for the response. ) We are getting the two little ones NZ citizenships now from the UK through decent. I've heard that I need to keep applying after 5 years, although if my hubby decides to go for PR, and if he gets it, after a certain amount of time he can then sponser me. - but thats waaaay in the future. lol.. Just trying to get the sub 461 at the moment. (very exciting but nerve wrecking). lol Glad that its only me that has to worry about the health care situation, makes it a little bit cheaper. Where are you going in Perth? Are you blogging your experience or anything, as it would be fabulous to see your experience etc. Good luck regardless and thank you again for your response. x
Admin
Hi, the following companies offer Health insurance which meet the minimum level of insurance as set out by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for the purposes of 457 visa Health Insurance. Have a look at the links as I'd imagine that they all provide 461 cover as well. Scary!!!) but probably south of the river (only because prices seem a wee bit cheaper for renting there) . My husband is going over mid May to complete an electrical course and he's going to have a good look around! It certainly will be an adventure! I'm not a blogger but happy to keep in touch if you want to. Good luck with everything! When do you think you'll get there and any ideas where? Guest Jeri
Hiya Yes, I've seen a lot of posts about the North and South of the river. hee hee. Its nice your hubby is going ahead before you to sort a few things beforehand, so its not going to be so alien to all of you when you arrive. We were going to do similar but decided to just jump ship all together. Plus, not sure if I could do the plane trip by myself with my two. I have a four year old and a two year old. My hubby is a scaffolder, so we are contacting all the training centres now to get booked to change his tickets over and do the other one day courses that are needed. We will rent from here and then when we know where everything is, we will then move.. So far, Quinns Rocks, Scarborough and Cottelsloe keep coming up so we shall see. We are aiming before this years Winter.. maybe mid/end November.. although we are in the process of trying to sell our place, so its all abit dependent on that, but in the meantime, we are getting all the visas and paperwork ready.. as I have a feeling everything may move rather quickly once done. Must defo keep in touch.. I'm on jerilee.brown@yahoo.co.uk.. if you ever want to email me. otherwise I will still be scouting the boards whilst you are in Sunny perth. You must be so excited. lol... jxx
