Guest johnboywalton13
Hi there, I am currently in the process of trying to gain a 457 visa,i have secured the job and my company are in thr progress of lodging the visa. How long does it take to be confirmed???? Also once my company has lodged a visa do i then heve to apply?? If so is it worth me getting medicals and police checks done before hand for me and the family?? Does anyone know of anywhere in the lancashire that does approved medicals and what will the cost be for both the medicals and police checks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Admin
Hi The list of UK panel doctors can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/overseas/u/united-kingdom/panel-doctors.htm (nearest will be Manchester). Can't help on cost as it was quite a while ago when we emigrated.

Guest Guest4182
JBW...if the company you work for now is sponsoring you, then surely they should be doing all the hard work...ie. sorting out the application and then lettting you know when and where you should book your medicals etc.....We went to a place in Manchester for ours, on the panel of doctors the Immigration Board approves for you to use.....these are usually paid for by your sponsors too, I think we initially paid for them but then got reimbursed. I reckon you should have had a nominated Migration Agent (Case Officer)which the company you work for should provide you with, then they will collate all the information from you and let you know as and when you can make appointments for medicals. You and your wife will need full medicals and xrays and the kiddies just need medicals (I dont think at certain ages they need xrays...one of my girls had one but the younger one didnt) Maybe its worth asking the question of just how much you need to do with regards to your VIsa. This is definately the fastest route to getting into Australia. From the point of applying for our 457 to actually leaving the UK was a matter of 12 weeks in total....your feet wont touch the ground!!! WHOOOOOSSSHHHHHH!!!!! ali
I know we went for our medicals in Preston but then I think they changed everything and reduced the numbers ... there's sure to be one in Manchester

Guest Daz0901
If your new job is in healthcare or any line of work like that, then your medicals are a little bit more expensive. For children under 11 £95, 11-15 yrs £195, over 75's £ 125, under £75's £290. If you work in certain fields you have to get other blood tests which are around £42.50 each. All in for my our family of 4 we are £845.
