Guest Harrison Clan
Morning all, Just about finished my SS form but just wanted to check what those who've done it already had down in the cost of living question. I've got... house - rent, insurance, utilities (am I right in thinking we don't pay rates if renting? and only pay for excess water?) food car - reg, insurance, petrol health insurance tv/broadband/phone Have I forgotten anything? knowing me there's something blindingly obvious I'll have missed Ta, Wendy
jackboots
Hi wendy , thats all about right , don't forget you also have to pop a bond down on a rental ( usually tells you the amount at the end of page of house details ) , we use HBF for car insurance ( a definate must !) health and house . ( very impressed with the car one as my car was written off last year ) paid up and sorted within a few weeks ..
Guest Harrison Clan
Thanks Sharon, I've included the bond in my relocation costs so that's sorted. Have been playing around this morning getting insurance quotes for my imaginary house and car will have a look at HBF

deanhewitt
Hi Jackboots thanks for the link. What is the process of buying from an auction in Perth please as it is certainly something worth looking at. What kind of cars generally run through there ie, reposessions, part exchanges, ex hire etc. Thanks Regards, Dean
jackboots
The two cars we have bought have been ex government cars a couple of years old /service history etc .. my husband went up had a look at what was there ( it changes regularly ) and got the sheets etc with all about each car ( usually the day before ).. there are quite a few sections some private sales as well.. we bought a hail damaged one last year as a stop gap , got it at a good price really , anyway you go back on auction day and you can buy it then and there or enter the bidding at the auction .. we saved a few $ grand of each of our cars by my oh doing this .. also if you get there early and the dealers havn't arrived ! Basically whats there is there on the day .
deanhewitt
Wow that sounds great thanks as we only have a starting budget of around $12,000 until we get settled in and used to everything. I am sure that there are lots of honest car sales people (somewhere) but I am sure that they rub their hands every time they see a plane landing. Thanks for the information it was most helpful Regards, Dean
