Guest Liz B
Hi all, Anyone have any restaurants they would recommend around Kalamunda or nearby. We would like to have a meal out for our anniversary this year, and would like to try a different area other than Freo or near the city. Thx Liz:wubclub:
ali
If you like Thai food the Roxby in O'connor is really nice (bit of a drive but if you usually go to Freo)... the law of averages suggests we should have a bad meal there but we haven't yet and eat there heaps. They also have steak, ribs, fish and chicken on the menu but the Thai food is great. Usually have one of the local brewery beers on special too e.g. Gage Rd at $6 a pint

Thx Liz:wubclub: Hey Liz...I live in that area and although we have two pubs here...the food hasnt been all that great in recent times...the Kalamunda used to have a nice restaurant but Im not sure if its closed for a refurb....and The Best Drop is ok...not been in there for a while, used to do a good fish and chips.....there is a Thai Restaurant here.....never been!!!.....There is also Embers in Gooseberry Hill which is quite nice for pizzas and pasta!....The place I have been to recently is in the Swan Valley called Penny Garden www.pennygarden.com.au and its been good on the few occasions we have been there....the atmosphere is quite informal but the food is pretty good....Cant go wrong with a romantic burger at Alfreds Kitchen....sit by the fire cuddle up or sit in the boot of the car (if you have a 4wd that is...not so great with a Mini Cooper!!!)....some of the best things in life arent about pomp and ceremony...are they??? Hope you have a lovely anniversary...ours is 21 years this year (get less for murder!!!)
Guest Liz B
Ta for that info, we might try the thai. Don't go out for meals very much and some of the prices are shocking! It's appreciated when we do though, even when it's just chips here or at Freo. Liz
ali
Been to the mussel bar for lunch for a pre-birthday celebration for hubby - thought we'd splash out and not a cheap afternoon ... but had the seafood plate to share and it was excellent .... bugs, chilli prawns, salt and pepper squid, oysters kilpatrick, moules mariniere, grilled fish .... nice bottle of chardonnay to top it off ... perfect afternoon
Guest Liz B
Read some bad reviews on the internet for the mussel bar, but sounds like it was good for when you went. It looks a nice setting also. Liz
