Wine Club

I've already mentioned that i like wine (and become a bit of a lush at weekends lol), but thought it an idea to start a wine club thread were we can let others know of nice bottles we've tried.

Last night Hubby and I shared a really nice bottle of white called Sarantos. It's from South Australia and is a soft press Chardonnay. approx $16 a bottle and beautiful.

The best well priced sparkling white we've tried is Banrock Station Pinot Noir, comes in at around $9 a bottle and is good if you like your bubbles really dry.

lindemans SSB is lovely for under $10 a bottle and Fifth Leg is nice to but about $16 or so a bottle.

I like bubbles since living here too....why is that...never really liked them in the UK but I like Jacobs Creek Pinot Noir Chardonney, ice cold.....I like reds too, not really a great Shiraz lover but I like Merlot and Cab Savs still like me ole fav from the UK Wolf Blass Yellow Label....I do miss all the europeon wines, like a nice chianti or borollo, they can be quite pricey here....so I will stick to the aussie reds, they do a really good job.....not averse to a nice cold beer though especially Redback!!!! Another good thread Ali!

I'm not that found of Shiraz ER (but will of course drink it if there's nowt else lol), but would go for Merlot or Cab Sauv. I really like Chardonnay (white of choice)

Beer is whatever's on offer (ain't it expensive here lol), Sapparo at the moment, love the beer with citrus too. Wasn't keen on the new Guiness black lager.

I'm increasingly making the switch to wine due to the beer prices here. We've taken a couple of trips up the Swan Valley to various wineries. Got some gorgeous rose in Charlies Estate for $5/bottle (they'd run out of labels so were selling cheap). The SSB from Sandalfords was nice, as is their Shiraz. And we got some nice sparkling Chardonnay from Ugly Duckling wine.

Thinking about them makes me want to go on another tasting tour round there...
