Guest thekelbos
Hi, Trying to fill in WA SS application but have struggled to get any up to date cost of living from anywhere. We have picked Perth, Peel and Mid West. My husband is a Quality Engineer with Oil & Gas companies and most of the jons seem to be in these areas. Food is no problem used COles and Woolworths online shopping to compare bills. Rent is the same have contacted a few agents for recent prices. Just need to know how to find out cost of Gas, Electic, Water etc. Also on the application it asks how you found out, will asking on forums count or does it look bad? Pretty much everything can be found out online nowadays, well almost, except utility bills it seems! If anybody would mind giving me a breakdown of their costs I'd really appreciate it. We're on our own, no children yet but hope to start a family once in Oz! Sorry is so long for a first post! Thanks in advance though xx
Guest JAMBOULTON
hi, i don't think putting you found out on forums would be to negative, as it shows you have researched and not just guessed. if you want a true cost, look at the suppliers websites, they should have all prices on there and gauge it to what you use in uk. hope this helps

Give me a break!
Hey asking on forums is fine we certainly put that in our application, it makes it sound like you are doing your research. Would you like me to email our SS application? You are welcome to copy as much as you want?
Guest thekelbos
Thanks for all your replys. I did contact Water Corp. direct and they were brilliant. Managed to navigate round Alinta and Synergy websites to get an idea of tariffs then just used our current bill info to guestimate our Australian version of utility bills. Went in this morning so fingers crossed we get approval sooner rather than later! Thanks again everyone, this site is brillaint, helpful and informative! Guest thekelbos
Its our last choice as most of the Jobs are Perth based, there was not that many jobs advertsisd in this area but you have to pick 3! So hopefully we don't get sent there. Although I'm not sure you do actually get assigned to a specific area? Do you? Its just the terms and conditions state 2yrs in WA, surveys every 6mths and up to date contact info. Not 2yrs in chosen area of WA.

We've been here nearly a year and no one has contacted us from WA with any surveys or anything neither has any of my friends who have been here longer, I think its just a way of keeping you in WA. We put on the application that we would be prepared to live anywhere in WA where the OH could get work. You can live anywhere you like in WA on a 176 State Sponsered. Guest thekelbos
Thanks for that! Like I said most of the jobs are Perth so looking within an hour of there really either driving or train/tram. My mum's friend's daughter lives in Secret Harbour they were over here at Christmas so she helped us a bit then on house prices, location that sort of thing. Just want to be over there now! Sammy1970
Reading through various different threads, can anyone advise of the utilty bills that require to be paid whilst renting? I have read that council tax is not required, nor is water rates? Does this depend on the landlord? Thanks in advance
