hey,

doing the planning for our activation visit and I wonder why the best place to locate ourselves would be?

We have stayed in the centre and cottersloe previously, so would prefer to get a different perspective on Perth

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

Tony

Yes Mandurah train line goes through Perth and right up to Joondalup its brilliant we use it when we go into Perth all the time. Sat, Sun and school hols its just $9 for a family ticket and you can go where you want use it as many times as you like and even use the buses and ferries with the same ticket:wubclub: I think a a week NOR and SOR is a brilliant idea.

Consider Mindarie - we've been here since September 2010 and love it. Mindarie is perhaps a little expensive but there are some good suburbs around - Kinross/Clarkson - 10 minutes from Joondalup. Worth a look.

Hi there my family and I, will be activating our visas and have booked our flights for 1/8/11 until 21/8/11. We dont have anywhere to stay whilst we are there looking around. Do you know where we could rent just for the 3 weeks? thats not to expensive and a good place to see different areas of Perth.

There will be 6 of us.. 2 adults and 4 children

Hi thanks for the link, its a bit expensive $4,500 for 2 adults and 4 kids.. it looks nice though. I would rather stay in a house with a pool.

I know its always a big debate NOR or SOR but can anyone give us any suggestions. We're coming out Jan/Feb as want to get kids (11 and 13) in school straight away and hubby has to find work as a floor finisher within a couple of weeks. We really have'nt a clue. I'm kind of stressing as now we have our visa that was the easy part!!! We're not shipping out dog or household goods within the first couple of months just want to make sure hubby can get work first! As for car cant decide as we'll need the car there but if hubby cant get work we'd have to pay to bring it back again!!! Please help with ideas!!!

  • 2 years later...

Mindarie and surrounding areas of Burns Beach, Illuka are fab to stay and are on the coast side of Marmion avenue, the north-south arterial road that directly links Mindarie to the Perth metropolitan area in the south. Currambine, Kinross and Connolly are on the "non" coast side and will be cheaper rents/holidays stay and to be fair it is only a couple of minutes to the beach than if you were on the coastal side. The Mindarie area is excellent for further trips north. For example Two Rocks, Yanchep (National Park), Gingin Observatory, Moore River is amazing at Guilderton and then possibly an hour north of that you have Cervantes (The Pinnacles), Jurein Bay and Lancelin (sandboarding etc). Mndarie also has its own marina with restaurants and coffee shops and great beaches.

Hi, just curious to know the thinking on an "activation visit"? Do people stay for a couple of weeks and then return at a later stage to permanently set up shop? What do you typically do (visa wise) on such a trip? How much time can you then leave between this and when you move out to start to adventure?

Currently waiting for CO, all things going well head out there at Christmas to activate and the return next June. Is that a acceptable plan from a WA Govt perspective?

Thanks,

David.
