Hi all

I know it is all a question of personal taste and, we need to do our own research. Which I will. Would really appreciate some pointers as to opinions on suburbs to live in Perth.

Ideally we would like to be within half hour commute to the city as we both need to find work. Hubbie is a carpenter. Not sure if carpentry is more sought after in particular areas?? confused.gif

We also have two kids 4 and 5, so would like somewhere with a good primary school.

Any tips or advice or good places to find info for my research would be greatly appreciated!

We are booked into a holiday home in Duncraig for 6 weeks, so need to crack on finding a long term rental as soon as we land! blink.gif

Thanks all thumbsup.gif

Check out the suburbs thread....

To be honest there are not many suburbs NOR that I wouldnt live in, depends on your needs and preferneces. Older housing? Close to beach? Close to train line? Best schools? etc etc

again this site has good suburb info http://www.aussiemove.com/

Hi, thanks for that. To be honest for some reason I am drawn to NOR, but all those in SOR of course I want to know all about it too!

Ideally we are looking for something close to the beach. We also have two small kids 4 and 5 so will be looking for good schools too! We would like to be in a good commute to CBD, hubbie is a carpenter so needs to be on a good route to wherever his work may take him.

Thanks all!

I suppose ideally the beach within a ten minute drive or closer even better, but I know the closer we are the more pricey the house. Its hard to tell the budget as not 100% of carpenters salaries over there. Our mortgage here is around £850 a month here, which at the moment converts to approx AUD1550. I have seen a few 3 bed unfurnished at this range, so hopefully Im not kidding myself. Any advice would be great!

Thanks

Hi we live in Secret Harbour which on the Train is a 20 to 30 min trip to the Perth CBD. Driving Id say more like 45 mins. Where we live is very coastal. Our house for example is a 20 minute walk to the beach. There are many Brits here and we all love it. The housing also tends to be cheaper than NOR but most areas especially Secret Harbour are all mostly brand new. We have a lovely pub and golf course where you can enjoy some lovely meals and a drink over looking the fairway ( cheaply I might add!) We have two primary schools and a secondary college. We are very close to Mandurah which after Perth is the second largest City. We love it

We to have this question to ask. Im also a carpenter and have the kids, one of which is 5 and schools are a big factor for us. I'm also concerned where the best areas are for carpenters. I just hope both factors can meet together and make settling in much easier.
