Guest piepie
We have our permanent visas and are validating them and coming over to Perth 1/8/11 until 20/8/11. To have a look round different areas for places to live, schools, work etc.. We are looking for somewhere to rent whilst we are there. We have 4 children, so they will be 6 of us all together. We dont fancy been to far out of the way from people and places. We havnt been to Australia before so we are not sure about areas. Do you, or do you know of anywhere where we can stay thats not lots of money Thanks

Guest piepie
Would like to be around half an hour away from Perth. Not sure about North and South. is there somewhere in between thats easy to get around and look at areas when we get there? like a base? Ive looked at maps and stuff, but still cant work it out in my head cos Ive never been to Perth. Im sure its lovely everywhere, it looks it on maps and pictures and stuff
phil
Sounds an exciting trip! It may be worth considering areas for your stay that are near a train station. They're pretty good and allow you to get in/out the actual city centre fairly easily. As a general rule, the close you are to a beach or the city centre, the more you pay (from what I've seen so far anyway). A few miles inland you can be near a trainline and prices are cheaper. Beach is still only 20 mins drive.
basicweb
If you want to make it a holiday too, maybe look at a holiday let. We have a one bed character flat in the Perth Hills (Kalamunda), that would maybe suit, though I do think you would need to hire a car from there. Good luck Tracey
Guest piepie
Thanks Basic web, but there is 6 of us all together, 2 adults and 4 kids.. Ive sent emails to most of the rentals from the links that people have given me. Most of the ones ive got back are booked, but we are waiting for some others to get back to us. Hopefully we will find somewhere. We are looking at hiring a car so we dont mind been about 45 mins away from Perth. North, South we dont mind as long as its nice.. we are looking at around $500 per week.
