Guest Gilly
Hi does anyone know if Slimming World is in Australia. I know you can do it on line but I really like the groups and support. Ive tried Weight Watchers but do prefer SW. Im not in Perth yet as waiting for house to sell:wacko: Maybe thats why Im thinking of slimming instead of putting my mind to removal companies etc. Anyway if there is not a group prehaps fellow SW internet members could meet up and share ideas etc. Gilly (moving sometime soon I hope)
Guest NeilEB
Unless things have changed the answer is no - and looking at the SW website it appears it only runs in the UK, Ireland, US and Cyprus... Sorry
Give me a break!
Sorry no Slimming World here. There are loads of Weightwatchers but alas no SW.
Guest Gilly
Oh well maybe Ill just try it on line then. I know as I get more stressed/excited about the move I will quadruple in size!!!!!! I will just have to think about all those cycle paths in Perth and brush up on my power walking (as in Kath and Kim). Prehaps when I eventually make it people might like to join up together for a chat and food comparison ideas ie Mullerlites, can you get them in Perth?. Or maybe they're not as sad as me lol Gilly
Give me a break!
Havent seen Mullerlites but there are lots of other ones similar cant think of the names off hand ( you can see I havent been following it :embarrassed:) there are lots of outdoor activities here. You do see loads of power walkers out so thats all good. I did recently go to a weight watchers here but didnt get on at all well really, I used to find Slimming World far more easy. Im sure you will be fine.
Guest NeilEB
How funny I'm the opposite - I hate SW with a passion, but love WW. I guess there's a diet out there for every person :-)
Guest Gilly
Hi Catherine, Im flirting between the two SW and WW prob why not exactly working well lol. Im interested in Zumba classes as I have been going on Isle of Wight which is where I come from. I am going to buy a bike when I arrive as comparing prices there's not much in it. When I came over for a visit in March I had to go out jogging at 05:00am as soo hot. What a thing to moan about!!!. I sound like a complete health nut, which Im not and ironically Im in bed, off sick from work with trachitis, sounds awful but good old anti biotics will sort it Im sure. Im internet browsing on Perth to keep myself from going bonkers!!! Gilly

Guest NeilEB
Or two, I really need to stick to one thats the thing:biglaugh: Well there's always Dukan Or Slimfast Or Lita-life Or Cambridge Diet Or Atkins Or the one from Boots that is apparently popular in Australia - Tony Ferguson Why stop at two when there's a veritable ocean to chose from?! Why do I get the feeling I'm not helping much?

Oh so many choices:wacko: so many pounds to loose (monetry as well as weight)
elsie3
Which Slimming World did you go to Gilly? I'm an Islander too (been here 6 months), and used to go to SW - a few years ago now mind - and would love it to be here! Which zumba did you go to, too! I quite fancied the look of that but the local one clashed with my netball. Have given it all up now though - think I need to be going out for those 5am runs, but love my bed too much! Hi, really nice to know there is someone from the Island in Perth:jiggy:, will definetley have to make contact if thats alright when we get there. Its the festival this week so the Island has come alive. Weathers not so good though, still they will all have fun. I used to go to Bembridge SW, but have also been to Lake. My Zumba class is in Bembridge as well as thats where we live. I think there are some Zumba classes in Perth so will give it a go. Anyway please keep in touch, I wonder if anyone else is from the IOW in Perth. Best wishes Gilly:wubclub:

travelchic
<<<<<<This is me eating dust lol. Isn't there a calculator on the slimming world website where you can find out I'd there are sins in something. Have a look on coles website and see if they list calories etc on their yoghurts and put the info into your SW calc. Debs
PomPenny
hi, going to start this thread again! is there any one already out in Perth, NOR, who is doing Slimming World and fancies meeting up for moral support? I have done Slimming World before coming out to Oz, and as the weight is creeping up and my daughter's graduation is approaching, I am having another crack at it! I find it is a good diet for me, but at times of stress ( and there has been loads since moving over here, mainly due to problems in the UK) I do like a bit of chocolate . Getting together for weighs ins ( or not) and sharing of recipes , not biscuits, would be good, as I always found that going to group spurred me on, hearing how others were succeeding. I am going to dust down my magazines and books! slimming World doesn't have any plans to come to Australia, but is taking on the US I believe. If this is of interest to anyone, just pm me or post on here. I am at Hillarys.
JasonM
Slimming world is not a diet, it's a life style change I lost 6 stone in 6 months doing slimming world. I am speaking to them about becoming a consultant. I have class tomorrow so will ask again about plans for Australia. I wouldnt want to start a group without there okay as I think it may get messy. Meeting up support is a good idea. Have you tried the SW Donner kebab? It's lush
SJT
There is a "Slimming World in Australia! (!UNOFFICIAL!)", on Facebook, and they help each out with ideas and receipes, a kick up the bum when you need it, and there are some people based here in Perth, so it may be a good starting point,
PomPenny
There is a "Slimming World in Australia! (!UNOFFICIAL!)", on Facebook, and they help each out with ideas and receipes, a kick up the bum when you need it, and there are some people based here in Perth, so it may be a good starting point, I joined the Facebook unofficial group, but sadly I am not a "Facebook" person, and what I really like is meeting up and chatting, not posting messages. I got to my target weight, and kept it for sometime, and like you, JasonM, I could see that it was a lifestyle change and very easy to follow, so thought. Would be able to keep to it for life. But when life throws us a wobbly, food is a comfort and in my case, it's Cadburys chocolate. I have also struggled to find equivalent products for some of my favourites now I am in Oz, so cannot keep to the formula that I am comfortable with for maintaining my weigh. I do cook most things from scratch, but it is surprising how many things have added oil and sugar over here such as jars of chopped chilli, garlic etc. Amazing well done for losing 6 stone in 6 months and good luck with being a consultant. I am sure it will be both extremely rewarding , and challenging, when you see the same faces every weeks for months/ years whose weight barely shifts, because they want to lose weight but rely on attending the group to provide the miracle rather than following the plan ! i don't want to try to set up a led group, that's up to SW to instigate, but still would like to get together for moral support if there were any other poms out there wanting to do the same.
