Guest Jeri
get your health care... I have to prove adequate health care when applying for my visa but we are only due to leave in about six months or so.... so surely we wouldn't start paying it now??? Sorry, probably sounding daft again.. but any advise would be appreciated. x
Guest keith73
Hi, Not sure what visa your coming on but we went with IMAN http://www.austhealth.com/ for our 457visa and basically paid for one months cover then put a date down for your entry date, then you start paying once your there. Hope that helps Cheers Keith

Guest Har00n
Hi Jeri, I actually went with Medibank, told them my planned entry date, and asked them not to bill me or charge me until i'm in. Told them this was for a 457 visa, so they also sent me a letter to show i would have medical insurance, that i attached to my application. i think the address is www.medibank.com.au. Guest Jeri
Thanks HarOOn Did the Aus embassy except that? What happens if we not quite sure on the expected date of arrival.. We are hoping to be before Xmas this year and on my visa I am putting the 01st November 2010 as our expected entry, should I just ask them to start billing me from then?? or do you arrive in Aus and contact them and they start billing you?? Sorry probably sounding abit dense but this would make it much easier and less expensive..?? x
Guest Har00n
Hi Jeri, On their website, they have a UK number that goes to their australia call centre (just remember to call early in the morning!) Speak to them, tell them that your thinking you'll arrive arround 1st November so to bill you from then. Think you have to give some payment details, but nothing gets taken until the date you tell them... I've decided to stay on the migrant cover, its gonna cost about £170 a month for me and my wife, but better safe than sorry! But i dont see anything stopping you calling up and cancelling once your visa's approved!
deanhewitt
Hi Jeri Like Keith says on a 457 you just need to show you have something set up for the date you arrive and your healthcare insurance company will only charge you from the date you tell them to. When this is set up they will email you confirmation that you can print out and put in your application. Har00n must be very wealthy as I went to medicare last week to ask about this and they wanted just over $5,000 for the same cover that HDF and Iman were going to give us for less than half that price. Guest Har00n
LOL!!! I wish i was rich! To be honost, medibank was the first thing that came up in google, and because it was so easy to setup, i didn't do much more research. was keen to get my 457 visa sorted, so just went for it! Once i'm there and start earning, obviously i'll re-evaluate. I thought medicare was free.... (See what i did there!)
Guest keith73
Hi again, Just to say we paid $160 and were issued a letter stating that we met the requirements for the issue of a 457 visa. We guessed our entry date and that can be changed by just dropping them an email with a different date. Just have a look on there website its very straight forward. Cheers and all the best
