Andyrob
Hey all - hope someone can help. Have been in Perth for about 3 weeks now, trying to find work and get visas sorted. The problem I have is hire cars. I booked one from redspot before coming over, at $850 for 3 weeks. I've just extended this for another 3 weeks, but at a further $850 it seems to be a rather expensive way of getting around. Does anyone know where a non resident could go to get a longer term (3 months at least) hire car at a slightly better rate. As I am only on a tourist visa at present I cannot buy or lease from dealerships. All help is hugely appreciated. Andy
Guest Liz B
Mindarie car hire, you can find the number on the net and the prices. I had a car for a few months until I bought my cheap runaround, they have a range from sml car to bigger vehicles. They gave me a good price for having it longer than a few weeks. It is north of perth near ocean keys shopping centre. Hope this helps. Liz
Guest Heathfamily
Wouldnt it be cheaper in the long run to buy a cheap runaround?
Perthpilotandnurse
Try Bayswater rental. New cars, good prices and 3 depots in & around Perth/Freo. http://www.bayswatercarrental.com.au/
Guest chikala
Try action car hire www.actionhirecars.com.au Near the airport. I paid $652 for a 3 door Getz for 4 weeks. They don't have the newest fleet around (3 years +) but does that really matter? The vehicles are in good condition and their customer service is excellent. Guest Guest4575
Thanks chikala for the tip on http://www.actionhirecars.com.au! They've just quoted me about $1000 for 8 weeks hire - that seems to be pretty reasonable to me?
Guest Har00n
Im kind of in the same spot, and have decided to buy a cheap runaround instead. for between $500 and $1000 you should be able to buy a car on perth dot gumtree dot com dot au, with rego till dec at least. I saw one yesterday, and if my wife wasnt so picky on the colour i would have taken it. It was a nissan pulsar, wee dent on it, but still driveable. after my car arrives, id be selling it anyway, so wouldnt be a great loss..... just something to think about. Goat
Just don't travel it you forgot to mention the 100 kms a day limit and the excess it's about 3000 bucks and you pay extra to get it to a reasonable price, this bumps up the price considerably and 100ks is bugger all --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-31.632045,115.702578
Guest Guest4575
Thanks for the warning, Goat - will certainly bear that in mind!
Guest Har00n
Just back online now, so thought id add a wee bit, i picked up a toyotta corolla fx for $600 dollars, runs perfectly fine, no problems, have driven from joondalup in the north down to mandurah and back without any issues. So you can get a decent car for a runaround if required. (the car is 22 years old and so doesn't have power steering, but i can live with that.) anyway, just though id mention that not all cars in that price range are death traps...
