Guest thesalmons
Hi, I was thinking of the same question this week. I phoned my local doctors to find out the procedure to take our medical notes with us when we go to Perth, BUT our doctors charge £10 per patient (£40 in total for the 4 of us) to release our medical notes. To be honest we decided that we are not going to bother taking our medical notes with us because we don't have any medical history (touch wood). Give me a break!
You dont need any medical records because basically there is nothing to say that you need to see the same doctor time after time here. They just ask a brief history and obviously if you are going for a repeat prescription its a good idea to take your medication with you so they can match it up. Other than that the usual laid back attitude applies here. Its basically up to you to tell them if you are allergic or if there is anything relevent to your condition. ali
Unless you have a complicated medical history that you can't tell the Dr. yourself about then don't bother. Bring any medications with you - you don't have to register with one dr here, you can go and see anyone you want to (you're also not limited to seeing one in your area). phil
I asked my doctor for a patient summary doc. Took them a few minutes but they printed out two A4 bits of paper with my name, details, measurements and recent medications etc. Not very in-depth but I figured was worth bringing. Doctor here found it of use.
