derham
Hi All I need some help. We are just about to start our skilled visa application my problem is one agent is telling me that my HNC is suitable to apply under a ''Building Associate'' and one agent has told me that I need a HND as a building associate needs an equivilant ''Higher diploma'' and the HNC is only classed as a ''Diploma''. Has anyone tried to get their HNC assesed and if so what was it classed as? Getting worried as we are tight on points and time!!
Maxg
Hi. We had the same problem as my oh was going as a building associate and he had the advanced diploma (which is a HND) as well as lots more. Out agent didnt seem bothered that he had these, the problem she thought was that he had the NVQ 4 and thought that this was the problem. Turned out that there was no problem at all. But from what we can make out, you do need to have the HND and the work experience, as if you dont have these then Vetassess will come back with a no. What other qualifications do you have? Maxg
To be honest I think you will probably struggle if you havent got the HND. Do you not have any working experience as a Building Associate? If you had the NVQ 4 they would take that as a HND. Which agent said that the HNC was adequate? You could try who we use. They are very good, but dont know if they would give you the same information as the other agent that said that you needed the HND. Maxg
forgot to say that my ot has all his CIBO studies as well and they werent interested in that. All they were interested in was his length of work experience and whether he had a HND. Is it Perth that you want to go to, as you could always try for a different area of Australia. derham
Who was your agent? and I'll see what they say. I was told that as I have 9 years out of the last 10 working experience that this was adequate but thy did have the caveat that only a VETASSESS application would confirm this. This was the reason I wanted to get someones past experience on here before I go much further. I sent my HNC away to be assessed last week by the engineering council, I already know they will assess it as a diploma but if I ned a higher diploma then my application will be doomed. Can you confrm when your OH sat his HND, Apparently the criteria on how HNC and HND's where asessed changed after 1999. Regards
Maxg
Hi. We use Visabureau. My OH does not have a HND (but the agent advised that NVQ4 is recognised by Vetassess as HND. God knows why as this was the easiest out of his qualifications). The grey area with the NVQ4 is not the qualification but the amount of study time which you have to provide evidence showing that you have studied for more than 2 years to achieve the NVQ4. If Vetessasses questions the study time, the visa agent is going to use the CIOB certificates as evidence of study to prove it was done. He was devistated when he got told this as he spent 5 years studying for his CIOB qualifications. Dont know if you would be interested, but here are a list of his qualifications:- CIOB Site Management Studies Certificate CIOB Site Management Diploma CIOB Core Studies Level I CIOB Core Studies Level 2 Advanced Diploma in Construction And he has all the other training i.e. SMSTS, CSCS Card, & First Aid. He has been in management for 12 years and is presently a Contracts Manager for a housebuilder. Hope this helps.

Maxg
Hi. Wouldnt know as we are still in here. Not gone over yet, but I do think that things would be better over there than here. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
