Guest judyq
HI, Hoping to come out to western australia next year and have Psoriatic arthritis, similar to Rheumatoid.Got it young at 42. Really interested to know if anyone has anything similar and if so have they noticed any improvement since they moved to oz. Winter's here in the uk are hard work now and really hoping the warm dry climate will help! Any insights much appreciated !
Guest fultonclan
Hi i have rheumatoid arthritis and from my experience in living abroad in the past the warm climate certainly helped me, i went into remission and was drug free for the whole 3 years that i lived there. I am concerned however that my RA will stop us being successful in getting a visa:unsure:. Our migration agent has asked me to find out how much i'm going to cost the Oz healthcare system. Have no idea how i'm supposed to find that out! I only take regular meds here so i imagine it will be the same there.

It was bad when I was in England especially in the winter months, but I have lived in Perth for the last 2 & a half years & my arthritis has been so much better, in fact most of the year I have no pain, just if it's a damp cool winter. The heat here is a dry heat, I was advised not to go where the heat was humid like Brisbane. I hope this helps. Barbara.

Regarding medications I found a link ages ago on poms in oz a while back, sorry i cannot remember it's title but it was a government site that listed prices of all pharmaceuticals. If i can find it i will let you know.I know methotrexate was very cheap but some others that i am on a bit cheaper. I guess you might not cost much at all if the warm weather has a good effect on your symptoms.Good luck with it.

Hi thanks alot for that Barbara, very heartening to read.We did originally fancy the sunshine coast but like yourself was advised against it because of the humidity.Sounds fantastic to be in less pain,or even no pain!Summer is not too bad but winters are a killer. Thanks again. Can i ask, did you get referred to a rheumatologist via the g.p?

Guest nana2two
Hi, I am on Methotrexate and the price in Perth is $33 something per prescription, I am on 17.5g each week & my doctor gives me a prescription for 50 10mg tablets so about 6 months supply which is good. Guest chris_and_miriam
Hi Folks. Just as an aside, there are many people who have had great success in reversing both psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis through eating a 'paleo diet', due to the autoimmune / inflammatory nature of these conditions. A quick google on these terms gives some food for thought (pun intended )
