Andyrob
Hey all. Not sure if this is the best place to post - but worth a try. I'm looking to get a couple of tattoos done in Perth. But I know that the best places to go are from word of mouth rather than just picking any old place. Does anyone have any experience of this in Perth, and able to recommend somewhere good? Guest woj
Just seen a sleeve today done at five star, really clean, sharp linework. The guy admitted a bit of colour was off because it got infected, it was a japanese style sleeve, which I'm fancying so had a decent look at it! Also in one of my books (thats on a ship somewhere en route to oz) there was an English girl mentioned working in Perth from the UK that was rated highly. I'm considering going to Sydney for a sleeve off a guy over that way when $$ allows.

bugsyburrell
Just a bump on this post to see if anyone else has feedback on tattoo shops preferably sor even more preferably Rockingham area?? We found one in Rocko but they want a ridiculous amount for a tiny tattoo?? But would always prefer recommendation after finding (hopefully) the only dyslexic tattooist in London!! portlaunay
Wow, thread from the dead! I follow TNT in Rocko on FB and they seem to do some nice work, Zoe particularly. They sometimes have midweek cancellations and have a reduced rate if you can get in and pick up the appointment at short notice. Marc Pinto at Primitive in the city has a very good reputation but is likely to be eye wateringly expensive. To be honest, there are many good studio's in Perth and quite a few dodgy ones. It's not always about the work for me as some of the places and artists with great reputations work in the sort of studio's that feel like I might be lucky to escape with my life. If I were going to get a lot of work done I'd probably book a holiday to Bali and for the same money as having it done in Perth have a weekend break and book into Buddy Marley in Legian on the last day. bugsyburrell
Oooo...Bali??? We've only been here a month but that does sound tempting for a weekend break in he school hols?? 100% with you there Porty, would much rather pay the price and go for a good recommendation. We used a little back alley one in Colchester but she was one of the best artists we have seen with amazing ideas and would be brutally honest with what she was doing. We thought there would be loads of shops with the amount people with ink out here??
portlaunay
There are probably hundreds of studios in Perth but they will be expensive. I don't now how they all survive but this downturn might sort the wheat from the chaff. There is another one in Bali a friend went to and he recommended it, I'll find out the name but he's also had work done with Buddy Marley and always been happy. I'd be very cautious about where I went in Bali and I'd want to make sure I could check out the place well before booking in. Obviously it's going to be more expensive to travel during the hols and the first time we went was during term time but I think the learning experience for my children was more valuable going to Bali than being at school. Buddy does get booked up though so you need to give him notice. Also, don't book it on your first day or you'll miss out on the delights of Waterbom Park! elfie
Both hubby and myself are tattoo fans. We have also looked around but to be honest they style of work and standard here is not what we like. We like the black / grey celtic style and well we get looked at like we have 2 heads Will book for Dai Fleet when we go back home and save a good couple hundred dollars. Its a rip off here price wise. http://www.abracadabratattoo.co.uk/gallery2/tag/celtic Edited December 19, 2013 by elfie
