Myself and my wife are hoping to move to the suburb of Jondaloop in Jan 2012, I am a qualified Electrician with test and inspection and 17th edition. We have a little boy who is now 1 years old, my wife is worried about been at home all day with our little boy and we just wondered if anyone had any advice about mother and baby groups etc... in the area? Also has anyone had any experiences living in Jondaloop and would you recommend the area?are the amenities good? I also play rugby league in the UK and would be hoping to join a rugby team in Oz, any advice on teams etc.. we are both in our late twenties. Thanks Guys. Steve and Laura.

Hi Steve and Laura, myself and my family are also making the move in Jan 2012 but we will be moving to a suburb near Fremantle SOR, and my hubby is an electrician aswell. There is a rugby league club just over the road from where we will be moving to, but we are more into rugby union, anyway, there is a rugby league club near Joondalup called The Joondalup Giants near Grevillea Way Heathridge.

There is also a couple of play groups in Joondalup, http://www.playgroupwa.com.au should be able to help, luckily my boys are 8 and 4 and both will be starting school on 1st Feb.

Good luck with your move and I hope this info is of some help.

Jackie, mamaswary

Thanks Jackie for the information its really helpful. Just wondered does your husband have a job to go to? We spent 7 months in Fremantle 7 years ago and we loved it, although it has probably changed a lot since we were last there. We will check out that website that you have recommended.

No, my hubby hasn't got a job, but he is Australian by birth so I'm the one who needs to get the visa, he knows a few contacts who have their own electrical companies or he might look into working in the mines for a couple of years as the pay is so good, we want to get our boys settled in school before we make any decisions, but we are lucky as we will be staying with his parents when we first arrive which takes a lot of pressure off. Have you got a job to go to, is that why you are moving to Joondalup?

I have managed to find a rugby union club for my 8 year old to join, and he will probably train with the Junior Dockers in Aussie rules, its such a great move for him, and my 4 year old loves the water, so they are going to fit in really well, I've just got to find something for me, I do love shopping so that might be my hobby, maybe your wife has the same hobby so we could do it together sometimes.

You'll probably find Fremantle hasn't changed at all, we have been going out every 3 years to see inlaws and it hasn't changed on each visit.

Take care Jackie.

We have also been lucky with having family in Oz, my uncle lives in Lesmurdie (up in the hills) and has said we can stay with him and his family as long as we need to. Our plan is to arrive in Perth on 13th Jan with Steve's mum and sister and stay in Perth for 1 week, we are all then flying on to Adelaide to visit Steve's brother for two weeks then Steve and I will fly back to Perth to start our new life in Oz. My uncle mentioned Joondalop (just noticed Steve spelt this wrong previously) to us and said it was a nice but affordable area to live in, we both loved Fremantle when we were last there but thought this might be out of our price range, my uncle didn't seem keen on any other areas? Sounds like you have got everyone sorted with clubs etc... Shopping is also one of my favourite things to do, keep in touch and we will have to meet for a shopping trip, that's one thing I am really gonna miss, the shopping here. Steve has also mentioned working in the mines, if he could get a job I think it would be worth doing for a couple of years. Cheers Jackie. Laura.
