Parking Signs

Okay, now that I've had my first parking ticket I guess I should really understand the signs.

Some are obvious - No Parking for example but others are a little more confusing. I've trawled through the web but can't find any guidance so can anyone link to a site with definitions or give me a quick heads up on what 2P etc at the top of a sign means?

Thanks

If it has just 2P, then yes it's up tp 2hrs free. If the word 'ticket' is underneath 2P then you have to pay at the ticket machine.

One to check is the red signs that shows a 'C' This is more in the city area's. Basically you cannot park there between certain times, usually peak hours.

But your right, there seems to be so many variations.

I know someone else who got done for that facing the wrong way thing, bet they get a lot of new arrivals with that one!

Parking signs seem to be in the much the same category as all other road signage in that there's no consistently-applied standard. I know in the UK all such signage is closely regulated to ensure consistency, here it just seems to be what the person wanting to put a sign up thought was good that day. It's definitely worth double-checking all parking signs as the inspectors seem quite keen!
