Guest kitkat
Hi I'm a new member haven't posted anything before. so here goes I have a 25 +years NHS Pension that needs to be transfered to a QROPS(Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme)as recommended from the pensions at HMRC but who will take my pension? half of the recommended schemes won't take transfers as they are no longer QROPS ? to do with the new Superannuation rules that came in force on 1st July ( have looked at that ,so know about it all) I Know that I have 6 months from entry to transfer under the rules before I would have to pay tax on the difference from acumulated revenue from date of entry till transfer but wht I need to know is who can I transfer a NHS pension to without being penalised. Any advised would be gratefully recieved , espeacially from any other nurses who have already transfered:confused: GESB aren't QROPS:( neither is HESTA HEALTHSUPER are applying but could take a year or so So who do you go with
Guest Colette Pieniazek
Being an UK migrant myself emigrating from Manchester to Perth 6 years ago, I now work for a firm of Chartered Accountants in Perth as a UK Taxation and Pension Administrator and have dealt with many migrants’ pension transfers from the UK to Australia. The company are experts in UK and Australian pension, superannuation and tax matters. We can advise you on both UK and Australian pension and tax issues before and after you migrate. If the transfer of your UK pension fund is completed within 6 months of the date on which you became tax resident in Australia, the growth component will be exempt from tax. If you require any further questions then please do not hesitate to contact me. Colette cpieniazek@uhyhn.com.au

deanhewitt
Hi all, One thing you need to be careful with if you transfer your pension to Australia is that you cannot transfer it back should you decide to leave. We are leaving our pensions in the UK and self contributing to keep them going as well as keeping our house in the UK. Not in case we ever want to return to the UK but we can still draw from the pension. Yes we will be taxed but better that than losing it completely if something happens and we need to return to the UK. Please look in to with your eyes open as some people may not make you aware of this
