Guest England2Perth
Hi Everyone, I'm moving to Perth with my daughter and son-in-law in February 2012 and will hopefully find a nice little part time job but looking to connect with new friends in and around the Perth area. It's just me but maybe I'll meet an Aussie George Clooney when I get there I enjoy photography (maybe there is a club in the area?) and drinking the odd glass of vino Hope to hear from a few of you soon. Thanks, Shirley

Thanks, Shirley Hi Shirley, i hope to move to Perth next june time all being well with the visa, i am 54yrs and also not so young making the move. I have been over to Perth loads of times these past 8yrs and can honestly say never met anything close to George Clooney ( we can but dream eh ) my son lives in Harrisdale but i hope to live around Baldivis or Secret Harbour. Loads of wineries up swan valley........very nice too, i also love the relaxed chilled out feeling of Fremantle. Where bout do you hope to settle? Theres perth pals on facebook for meeting new people, seem a really friendly bunch although most seem to be young mums, i have done all the kiddie and coffee morning thing so will be looking for clubs of interest to meet new friends. If you meet a George Clooney see if he's got any mates Ann
Guest England2Perth
Thank you everyone for your messages and help, I have an old friend who lives in Edgewater so may stay there for a little while but will be renting Victoria Park area I think with my family while we get acclimatised and they arrange jobs. Ali - thank you for the link to the camera club website and it looks close to Victoria Park (although not sure how far things really are from looking at the map). What is Riverton like? Jane - thanks for the tip on the wine where you are, will let you know when I land and will come and taste the wine! Steve & Deb - The weather is going to be a big plus as its cold and damp in Blighty right now. What is Yangebup like, little further out from Perth is it? Ann - I will keep my eye out for George's brother for when you arrive I have been to some of the wineries along the Swan Valley which is a beautiful place to be. I have heard Freemantle is very nice and the cool breeze helps with the hot weather. What type of visa are you waiting for? It is going to be a busy few months ahead but looking forward to the move even at my age!!! Take care All Shirley

Guest kate45
Hi Shirley I have been in Perth about 18 months now and can strongly recommend it. It is such a laid back place to live and the beaches are gorgeous. I am also of mature age and live in Yokine which isn't far from Vic Park. I have my family here but live on my own and always willing to meet up with like minded ladies especially those who enjoy a glass of wine. I am a very social person with a great sense of humour and very modern minded. Can't say I have seen many George Clooney's about but you never know your luck in the big city!! Would love to hear from you once you are here and settled in. Good luck with the big move. Kate
