Hi everybody...thought I would give an update on the move. Been in Baldivis for 2 days now and settling in really well. My daughter starts her swimming lessons tomorrow and I collect my new car on Wednesday. Thought I would be stopped at Customs due to carrying 1 years' supply of medication...I wasn't even sniffed at by the Customs dog!!!!! Great....then, I collected my hire car which I requested an upgrade as I had so much luggage, the car I initially requested would not have been large enough...so, got to my hire car in Car Park 3 to find I had been given a "boy racer" banana on wheels!!!!!! Embarrassed?!...oh yeah!!!!! Anyway, driving through beautiful Baldivis to my rental home made up for that!!! So happy to be in

Oz. The family farewells were awful - too many tears! Hope to see some of you around. Take care, Michelle x:jiggy:

If you don't mind me asking what are the rents like? i am really starting to panic with the cost of living and renting as i will only have my income which will be in aged care. We will have to meet up for a cuppa when i arrive all being well. PM me if you wish, so glad you are so happy.......... Yay!!

Hi M,

Really pleased you're in and settled, its a week on Tuesday for us to head over. Just sat in the Premier Inn behind the MentalCentre (sorry typo I of course meant MetroCentre!!).

Wish we were there already, might try the upgrade space story with our rental agency and see what we get, it will be Bev's car so be great if they give her a purple Ute - lol...

Anyway enjoy yourselves and once we're over we'll have say hi either at the local or somewhere else.

All the best

Jay & Bev

We are in Baldivis also. Been here for 2 months and getting settled now. Could maybe meet up some time for a chat. Any others in the area welcome too. The social side is what we are really struggling with.

So glad I found this thread, I have decided on Baldivis, unsure what attracted me initially but after reading all the positive posts I can't wait to get there, sadly not till June this year but reading this is keeping me motivated. Sharon

Welcome to Baldivis, we've been here longer than you (we're in Settlers Hills) and we love it too! Hope you settle in fine and if you need anything, (help, advice, coffee, wine...) just shout :-)

I have only just come across Perthpoms so it is all brand new to me :-)

Not found Steel Tree Park yet. Bev goes to Sydney for a full weeks training on the 29th but flights permitting it will be both of us there, if she has already gone you will be inflicted with just lil old me.

PS agreed ref Dome but last night they turned us away just after 9 as we wanted food, this new timescales for things is going to be interesting.

Hi Kips, great to hear from you. I am loving the gorgeous weather, although not the thunderstorm that we had last Thursday night!!! I have been told that it was very out of the ordinary though!! Meeting up would be great. How are you fixed for this Friday? The Dome cafe is great! Send me a PM. Take care, Michelle x

Yes the Dome is nice and it would be great to meet up - I'm pretty tied up for the next two weeks though but we'll arrange something after that, if that's ok? :-)

Hi Sharon, glad to find this thread too. We move out April 2014 if all goes well. We have two boys, 13 at 20 who can't wait, must admit we have had second thoughts due to cost of property and lifestyle...been out twice, last being January to validate visa's. Hope all goes well for you, keep us posted Elaine.

Hi there

Scrolling through old threads which have things to do with Baldivis to find out other people's adventures!:-)

another Geordie family will be joining beautiful Baldivis come 29th July , so excited . Making friends for ourselves and the kids is big worries at the moment and would love to know if your experience was ok and how quick you settled in making friends, and what your thoughts and advise is now over a year later.

would be brilliant hearing back.

thanks, Joanne x

Hi Kips,

Is your Harry at Makybe, if so what year will he start in Feb ?

Our son will start there this year in yr 4 as he will be 9 in March.

We are currently in secret harbour but moving to our new house in Highbury Park round early March.

We also have 2 girls aged 4 and 10.

Justin and Emma.

Hi Roadhouse, you will be absolutely fine!! Having kids always helps socialising and being Geordie's might help as well!! We've only been in Baldivis for a month now an love it. Most people we have meet in Baldivis have been friendly and welcoming and there's obviously quite a few residents on here to help kick start the social circle.

We have two girls at makybe primary which has been great and dab hands at new family integration. The girls already got their circle of friends sorted and parties lined up for the summer hols, they just make it look easy!! The school also has coffee mornings for parents which could be a good starter.
