Is there anyone is/has imported their car to oz from the uk? i've been looking at cars in ebay and gumtree etc.. and the price of cars in oz is 2 to 3 times the price of the uk, so i'm thinking of importing my car, i know there is all kinds of import duty and tax, registration and changes for oz mot, what do yous think?

Hi All

I am also one of the 34 uk linesman you mentioned earlier. Not coming out till aug tho, as wife is about to drop kid number 2 out. Sounds like you all have the same headache as me with all this (hope its worth it in end). I'm going to Balcatta Depot anyone know of cheapish areas to live out that way, it all seems very expensive.

Hi All,

Congrats on your sponsorship. I am looking into opportunities for my husband is a fully qualified uk spark and has been since he left school (he's now 33), forgive if I'm a bit dumb but is a linesman the same as a spark or do you need more quals?

Thanks

Lisa

Yeh mate i have been looking far north as well, clarkson etc. I did think of looking south but thought it might be a nightmare getting in on a morning as i have heard traffic is very slow through Perth at certain times. It does seem as though you get more for your money down there.

Id say you will, best bet is to ask sarah allen from the relocation firm n see what she says,, you would hate to get to aussie passport control n have them not let you in as there isnt valid insurance on your file, i went with bupa, found them the best value for money

Deano, I haven't got my pack yet but should get it tomorrow morning. I fly out next tuesday. On the clothing sizes I just looked at a tape measure and converted inchers to cm's. I hope thats right otherwise I'm going to look a bit of an idiot. I think the boot sizes are the same as UK.

I've moved from Fremantle and for the first three weeks I'm in Applecross but move back to Fremantle when my family get here..

i would have preferred to stay at Fremantle for the whole time but i'm there for the last week with my family which is good. I'm not airfreighting anything over just to save some money. i live on the Isle of Wight and the freight company logistics of getting my stuff to their depot and packed into a container costs a fortune as they've got to make a few ferry crossings so most of my budget has gone on that. So instead of a large family app in Fremantle I will be in a one bed appartment in Applecross. It's still bloody lovely and I can't believe my luck. All my tools are going by sea and I've changed and got car hire from day 1 as trying to work out bus timetables and routes was a nightmare.

I go from being dead excited to very nervous and know I won't sleep much monday night but as soon as I'm on my way it will be great...
