Guest nige
Hi All, 1st time post but I'm sure it won't be the last....... I am lucky enough to have been offered a job in Perth and come in June to have a look. We have yr6 and yr4 children so schools and areas to live are really important. Can anyone suggest some good areas to rent in - good to have a shortlist before we come. I have heard Scarborough and Wembley are nice but it would be good to have some first hand knowledge. Guest The.Lawcants
Hi Nige I think this would be hard one for anyone to answer as area's from what i've read about will completely depend on the individual. Were planning on going NOR but it's like anything when you get there and have a look around you might change your mind. I think the best thing might be to study the schools to get an idea of whats on offer, stat results etc and then look at the area there in, thats how i'm doing it as the kids education is a priority for us. I hope this helps. Yours Jane
Guest Burmans
My only advice on this is not to be too driven by house prices. While we have been looking at areas (on the net only) we have been looking at certain areas as the houses look cheaper only to find out that they are not the best areas, with higher crime etc etc. Cheers Wayne
Guest adenray
Hi Nige Congratulations on your big move. There are many suburbs to choose from in and around Perth. Choosing a suburb you will feel comfortable with really depends on how you want to integrate with the local community, etc. Do you want to live amongst ex-pats, Australians, etc. Properties range in price and you should be able to pick up something within your price range fairly easily. However, to ensure you don't make a rash decision it would be wise to rent first. Perth is growing at an incredible rate and the suburbs are quickly spreading further North. Joondalup will be classed as Perth's 2nd City and has excellent facilities. A local hospital (Joondalup Health Campus), a Police Training Academy, many food and retail outlets, excellent commuting, cinemas, etc.... I could go on. As mentioned in a previous thread, Carramar is very close to Joondalup and has superb schools which are highly sought after - Carramar Primary and St Stephen's High Schools to name just 2. There is also a day care centre for pre-schoolies. CentreLink/Family Assistance do offer help with childcare costs. If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. I understand what it is like having to uproot from the UK but I can honestly say that we have been here over 2 years and we haven't looked back. We have a 7 year old daughter who has made many friends and attends Carramar Primary. Send me a PM if you like or email me on adenray_79@hotmail.com. Kind regards, Lorraine
