I know nobody will care but the sale of our shop fell through today.. this sheds a whole different light on the visa to oZ

I care very much Odies, feeling for you, and hope it's not the end of your dream, as all the other lovely ladies have said, sending lots of good positive vibes that another purchaser will come along and all will go well.

This is definitely in the wrong thread, clearly there are people who care.

Did your buyer know you were coming here? Could it be a tactic to get it at a lower price? Sorry to hear this, hopefully this will be a temporary setback and another will come along soon.

I'm not sure if you can Odies. I know when my MIL started the process she went for the temporary contributory as we read she has to have available funds before starting the process as they can call for the vacs at any time. I don't know what to suggest.

Have you applied for the temporary or full visa? Is there any other way you can make the vac payment when requested to do so?

Oldies, my heart goes out to you. You poor thing! That is so very upsetting. What happened?

No idea about your visa but when we were doing ours it said to notify them if there was a change of circumstances or if you unable to be contacted, then they would hold off for a bit. Try them. Email them today.

try that e-estate agent I told you about. At least you would have minimum fees taken out of the settlement amount.

well feel a bit more positive today, after reducing it 3 times and numerous solicitor questions he arrived at the shop just before the post office auditor and wanted even more off so i showed him the door, straw that broke the camels back, no going back now so onward and upward. The shop is back on the market will change the ad after this weekend and put yet another good price on it, have thought I might try and sell the rental we have to sell quick to fund the visa but it has tenants not sure if that will sell ok or quick, anyone had this problem and it worked ? also will ring tomorrow the parent visa place and ask a few questions.

Thanks everyone xx

I feel for you. Still feel in two minds about leaving mine behind. Luckily he can go to a family member. Have you contacted a re homing charity like Cats Protection League? Often vets can put you in contact with a small local charity that you may not of heard of. Worth a try.

It is so much harder finding new homes for our cats before we leave than I ever imagined it would be

Happylittlevegemite, my friend recently had to rehome her two cats and she found a lovely lady in sussex (potentially brighton I think) I could get her details for you if you want? xx

Thank you for the kind offer, but I think that's a bit of a trek for us! We've got their names down with cats protection and a couple of smaller re-homing centres, my bosses mum runs a cattery so is putting the word out. All say don't hold your breath though. RSPCA wouldn't even add them to their waiting list as they say it's already too long, I will try the vets too, see if they can suggest anything.

Worst case my brother-in-law doesn't mind taking them, but they've already got two cats, two small children and a one year old Labrador. I don't think our cats would settle very well, one of them is super timid and stressy so I wouldn't be surprised if she packed her bags and moved out if we left them there!

Another place I hadn't given much thought to akasully, thanks, I might try that. I've also joined a local-ish Facebook group dedicated to cats and there seems to be lots of lovely people on there that could help if the situation gets desperate. Will you leave it until the last minute to decide about taking your lovely boy? Because we know we are definitely not taking ours we just want them gone as soon as so we can all get used to not having them around, especially the kids.

Speak to your neighbors. Many cats pretty much have a second home - we found out ours were going to several of the neighbors - we had three. So when we were moving they simply went to the houses they were already visiting.

How lucky for you very stormy! Our neighbours barely know that we even have cats, they don't venture outdoors much (the cats that is, not the neighbours).

I am pleased to say that our crisis has been averted, hubby's nanna to the rescue, she has agreed to take our cats, yay!
