Welcome back Rossy - yep bit of a temp change that's for sure!! You'll be reconditioned in no time though I'm sure! Margaret river is next on our list to try!

I seriously can't recommend Kalbarri enough. Ok, so it's not party central but if you're looking for a chilled out holiday vibe with some stunning scenery and relaxed outdoorsy activities (not to mention the amazing seafood) then it's the place to go!

Mrs p and the kids have just called from a cold, grey, miserable London. They were all hoping for snow of course but that didn't happen. Wish they were here for a swim out to the pontoon on South Beach.

She and my daughter can't wait to get home but my son has loved it and is going to be very sad to leave. Two weeks and they'll be home!

It is magical isn't it?

When I think about it there are so many breathtakingly beautiful moments that come about merely because of the weather and conditions; chilly, mornings when you can see your breath when you take the dog for an early walk, endless, perfect blue skies that shield us from the chaos of space, sun so hot it feels like it's draining every atom of moisture from the planet, clear night skies with stars horizon to horizon, raging reds and oranges in a glorious sunset over the Indian ocean.... and so it goes on. There's extraordinary beauty in the simple things we so easily take for granted.

Elfie is it really that bad in SH? We didn't get time to look at SH when we was over on a reccie

Hi Jason

Yes for me it is. I am not a bored housewife or a yummie mummy unfortunately or then again fortunately. There are shops cafe, pub, drs, hairdresser, nail shop, beauty salon community centre etc. Good surf beach but I would not recommend for people with young children. The foreshore area is soon to be developed but I would avoid as its a dog toilet down there. Theres a lovely lagoon with the wildlife and play area for the kids near the beach but again its a dog toilet, people of SH dont believe in picking up, they are too posh for that hmmmmmm

The area where I live is very safe no hooning due to all the roundabouts. But SH is not as safe as people make out there is crime plenty of it. As I said previously there have been ram raid of cash point at the shops and a fair few nasty muggings and attacks. The first year I had people usisng my garden as a short cut over the golf course jumping over wall all hours of the day and night !!!!!!!! Luckily my landlord is good and knocked the ornamental wall down on the front lawn. Which cured the problem but now the gates are down and garden walls are getting spray painted.

I can see the attraction for young families but if I had young children it still would not be for our lifestyle. Hubby wants a man shed I want chickens end of can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl if you get my drift. Hubby gets frowned on if he revs his bike again thats once a month but others can party every weekend and nothing gets mentioned.

We stayed at a place called The Pelicans Nest. Cheap-ish and cheerful self contained unit on a nice small complex just next to the backpackers so about a 2 min walk from the river foreshore where they feed the Pelicans.

Not a bad place Nikki... we used to stay there in the 90's with the offspring. The last few times we have gone we styed at Blue Ocean Villas. Can be pricey but they are amazing and often have specials.

Awesome mate!!!! That is great news!!! What is your ride?

So have you done the Hazard Perception and Theory Tests?

Did the theory at the start of the week. Going to borrow a mates Virago to spoon around the streets on until I can take my test. Because I already have a C class license I don't need to bother with logbooks or anything so I just keep going on L plates until I'm happy.

I'm going to be riding across country from here to Darwin in 2016 with a couple of mates, or at least that's the plan.
