IKNOWCB we move into our rental in Margaret River on Friday after 3 months living with friends in Dawesville whilst OH commutes to work weekly. We struggled to find a rental and were really lucky to find a private rental off gumtree. Our landlords had over 30 interested parties (plus loads of backpackers!) reply and with our second email I attached a powerpoint document introducing ourselves, giving references from our UK neighbours and 2 Oz references from friends, an overview of our finances and photo's of our UK house we have rented out. It did the trick!

OH's job in Margaret River is his first step into management after 15 years on the factory floor so to speak. So far the paperwork and systems have him a little on the back foot but they are providing training and I'm tutoring him on computer systems too get him up too speed. Its a brilliant role and a good package for the area - PLUS we get 6 dozen bottles of wine per year I addition to the opened sample bottles every Friday (some are absolutely divine but others ...).

We've put a enrolment request into the local Catholic School and I will be popping in on Friday as their offices are currently closed. Not sure of our chances as the girls are baptised Church of England and there may be a waiting list. If they can't get in the local school is also very good (but 4 times larger in size).

I've not managed to find any work in the area but will keep searching the web, browsing local papers etc in the hope that something will turn up.

Really loving life Downunder so far but missing our lovely neighbours, family and friends in the UK and hoping to make equally good friends in our new home.

No, the route I was on was the cycle path going along the coast from Port Kennedy to Rockingham and there were not many people or cyclists about.

From now on, I'll carry a spare inner tube

Will join you sometime Dom when I'm more settled, I'll drive to where the roughians live ..... SOR.....!!!!!
